That will split up - in the end after you play it once you dont have that much of a interest of doing it again to "farm" or level.

What i hope tho is that the DLC items wouldnt be better and morep owerful then rest of the content - but simply different and unique. Else it would mean that you HAVE to buy them to get access to the best gear.
True. But lets say you can build a solid Ego Grid based on the items that are found in the DLC and it turns out to be OP or a great cookie cutter build that only other DLC people can follow.

I would think since they paid more for it they should have an advantage. Thats the purpose of DLC, to expand onto the game and give people who buy it rewards over those who do not.

If you dont buy the DLC then complain about people getting awesome gear in the DLC, you really have no right to complain since you have the same opportunity to purchase the DLC like everyone else.

That would be normal for big yearly or so content updates - but forcing you to "upgrade" the gear with each dlc - since old one becomes obsolete - kind of would make it a partially P2W game - which beats the point of working hard for your gear if the next dlc would just have better items already.

I see where you are seeing this from. And im only going to play the devils advocate here on this questions. I enjoy these discussions to so great questions all around.

    But with regards to DLC.

Lets look at a game like WoW. New DLC made all end game gear obsolete. If you never purchased burning crusade then you would also never level up past 60.

Is that considered pay to win? Or just an expansion of the game?

Those who dont decide to purchase the expansion shouldn't be able to compete with those who do in a game that has a leveling system and tiers of gear and gear based items on your level.

So in Defiance, knowing its not a MMORPG, why can't DLC provide new gear and even new missions or quest which can level your Ego score possibly past the 5,000 reported cap?

Pay to win is also something that changes based on the individual perspective. I dont see someone who purchases DLC which offers better items and or more missions a pay to win. If i am choosing not to buy the DLC im also accepting that I wont get whatever new items are presented.

the "better" item part can be solved in different ways - visuals, effects or a new weapon type.
I am not sure yet how the weapon system works tho - is there the standard "dps" part.

What would make it bad is if the dps part would greatly get boosted overall with each dlc content (instead of lets say a new unique damage type weapon with like aoe poison damage or somethign that wasnt available before, instead of new weapon type + marginally bigger damage aswell).

yeah, we'll have to wait and see what new DLC offers.

I would hope for some new cool items, outfits, cars, shields, and grenades. But we'll just have to see. (^-^)b

We can all enjoy a non-subscription based buy to play game in the meantime. WOOT!

Its liek saying that you own a car but whine and cant pay for the ever increasing gas!!!!
Your response was idiotic, didn't make much sense.

you buy the game, and that's all you have to pay for. you CAN pay for DLC, and in game merchandise and perks; it's completely up to you on what you want to invest after buying the game.
