    I... Like this game...

Okay... so... I came to the forums because my fancy new blue VOT Fragger with syphon elemental and a reload speed boost that I destroyed my old VOT Grind Fragger to get mods for disappeared and I wanted to know what's up. I saw a few things, and it was apparently a server rollback (not sure why, but I'll take it).

Then I saw that everyone on the forum seems to think that the game is inescapably buggy and that there is nothing about the game that is redeeming in any way, and that confuses me to no end. The game had to be released on the 2nd of April. They had no choice in that. Syfy would've had to push the show back if Trion demanded that they have more time for the game, and Armistice day was April 15th, so they would have had to re-shoot anything that mentioned that and rerecord anything in the game that mentioned it to be the new day. They've jumped on the bugs as quickly as they could, and the really bad stuff is gone (voice chat, I'm looking at you).

I've had a great time in the game. 2nd of April, I had a blast blasting some arkfall crystals, and arkfalls haven't gotten any less fun since (I have learned to hate hellbugs, though). The combat is tight, well done, and all around the funnest I've found in a 3rd person shooter. It's one of two shooters I've found with fun competitive multiplayer (TF2 is the other one). It's certainly the only MMO I've ever heard of that a guy with a sniper rifle can make 5 end-game enemies' heads go "pop" before cloaking and dodge rolling behind another one's shield to shotgun him to death. Then, when he's done with that, he can digistruct (or whatever it's called in this game) a runner that he can drive off a cliff, do a 1080, and drive into some robots attacking some soldiers, then switch to his stickybomb launcher and blow them into scrap before switching to an LMG to take down a giant walking scorpion/forgebot. I love that the game doesn't force you to either be in a group 24/7 or just die nonstop like other MMOs (I love you, The Secret World, but seriously).

I have a few minor concerns. I mean I've had a few times when I intersected with downtime, but the downtime is certainly less than the uptime, and, yeah, it's annoying that I can't complete that last quest in Sausalito (project aegis part 1), but they don't even attempt to match the parts of the game that are just so very fun.

    Maybe I'm just weird.

EDIT: Was just reminded of the reloading glitch. Yeah. That's awful, especially for me 'cuz I mainly use a pump shotgun except when I'm sniping or fighting scrappers.

You're not weird. As with any game, the majority of people that visit the forums are either fanboys, or discontent adolescents screaming that the game is unplayable. Same people will go to the forums of every game they play and cry about the same things, and yet, go buy the next game that comes out. The others, refuse to admit that there are any problems, and just ridicule and make fun of anyone that says anything negative about the game. The largest portion of us, shut up, play the game, and report bugs as we need to. Don't stress over most of what you see in the forums.

    100% with you.

I got the game after seeing a preview or two, and my first day in got on a hot streak for bugs. Literally every pursuit I did that required interacting with an object (like all of the early quests) refused to load the objects unless I logged. It was tedious and annoying, and made me rage. Then I did an Arkfall and all was well in my soul. I've even dragged a couple of friends into the game, who all had the same opinion: what the game gets right it gets fantastically right.

Are there issues? Sure. As the Doctor once said, 'Life's a pile of good things and a pile of bad things'. In the end, the good of this game FAR outweighs the bad, and the bad is still being hammered out.

You're absolutely right, This game was definitely rushed to make the syfy premiere. I think it should have spent more time in beta. But I think it will be a epic game if we all have a little patience.

I like Having to reset Ps3 just to talk to group members.
Hard freezes and server disconnects happen at LEAST once per day.
    Constantly joining into bugged Co-ops.
Emergencies that can't be completed because one of the creeps glitched into a rock.
Skills reset when you max them out
Pursuits that cannot be finished *Cap n Hold for instance*
Having to constant switch weapons to gain skill

Despite the bugs and limitations i am enjoying the game. I hope it sticks around and builds a decent community around it because i think it can be so much more.

There's nothing weird about enjoying a fun game like Defiance. The only problem would be if we let all the haters convince us to abandon the game before giving the devs a chance to make it better. If you're having fun, keep playing. That's what I'm doing!

Agree with the OP, but at the same time, I am not even remotely attempting to "convince" anyone from my gaming group to play. They like FPSes, do not like MMOs, but do like Borderlands.

I am almost certain they would just complain their way out of this game, and I don't want to endure that.
