Hey guys and gals.
Feel free to skip this wall of text, as I'm just compiling a list of my thoughts on Defiance: where Trion has excelled, and where they have jumped the gun, and other random improvements that could be made.
First off, I would like to congratulate and thank Trion for making a fantastic game, and even more, for communicating with their community on what is going on in the dev's minds. Communication is key in every aspect of life, whether it be gaming, relationships, or work, and Trion has definitely made communication top priority. I think it's fantastic that they care enough about bringing their community the experience they promised that they are willing to admit when they've messed up. I tip my hat to you, Trion.
On release, four of my friends went out and bought the game and then waited for a few days until we all had free time to play it. We were going to go through it all together. The four of us. I was excited, pumped, and ready for the four of us (who always **** at shooter games) to just overpower everything together and fly through the game. Unfortunately, the first few days of server issues led two of them to return their game and get their money back. There problem, not mine.
I absolutely love this game, for the most part, at least. There are times when I get frustrated, angry, or just straight bored. With it being only three weeks after release, Trion is still having to work out some bugs and issues, especially those pertaining to pursuits. And since I'm waiting on my other friend to find free time to continue the story missions, all I have to do are pursuits (60 down, only a million to go). The fact that I can't get some of the easier pursuits due to bugs is frustrating and annoying. My kills on Waterfront constantly reset, there is no Capture and Hold PvP map, and no one ever dies during an Arkfall. So now I'm stuck grinding away at weapon levels and reputation. And let me tell you, that gets boring.
So now that I've told you my standpoint, I'm going to make a list of suggestions about certain aspects of the game.
Arkfalls:
Trolls who stay in vehicles during major Arkfalls are annoying. 1) you're killing all the skitterlings who open the critical spots on the crystal. 2) you're killing everything, making it impossible for me to get more ammo to destroy the crystal faster. If you want to do a major Arkfall, please, be courteous of other players and step out of your vehicle and shoot everything like everyone else. You get more points that way, trust me.
Incentives to do Arkfalls are cheap. There is no incentive to stay and complete an Arkfall, and no real incentive to score in the top 3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am consistently part of the Top 3 (Top 5 if I come in late) and I see hardly any difference in rewards when I rank #1 as when I rank #20. I get roughly the same amount of keycodes, the same amount of scrip, and the same mediocre gear drops. IMO, the higher the rank, the higher the reward. Heck, in a Major Arkfall with 40+ people, give the #1 player a random orange. That will get everyone wanting to be #1.
I've been reading these forums constantly, and came across a great idea. The idea was for Trion to put Cerberus vehicles into PvE (a great idea just to get the pursuits imo) as well as setting a vehicle perimeter around Arkfalls. If you want to get vehicle kills during an Arkfall, pull out your Cerberus and grab a gunner. This will increase the support roles and keep the big hellbugs off the dps.
PvP
The main thing I have for PvP is the shotguns. Everyone uses them. It's bad when I get surprised when I am killed from something OTHER than a shotgun. I've even had to drop down to their level because when it comes to a shotgun vs AR, the shotgun is going to win everytime.
PvE
There's not much I can think of to improve on PvE that hasn't been covered in the Arkfall section. I would complain (complain being used very loosely here) about the "lack of content" that I keep reading about on this site, but there's not any lack of content. I've just burned through it all extremely fast because this game was just so much fun and I had so many options. So now that I've burned through all of the time trials and other different challenges, there's not many options left for me. It's not a lack of content that's the problem, its MY lack of patience to hold off on side missions or time trials. There will be more content coming out in future DLCs, and I for one can't wait for them.
Lockboxes
Noupoi has made a fantastic spreadsheet on the chances of getting better gear from lockboxes. He has taken the time to put it all together and do the math to figure out which boxes give orange weapons for frequently. Check it out:
Lockbox Data Collection Thread
Ok! Awesome! A tier 4 lock box has roughly a 7% chance of getting an orange weapon. A tier 3 has 3% chance of getting an orange weapon. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not very good at statistics, but based on the chart, For 8 more keycodes, I could buy three tier 3 lock boxes, increase my chances of getting an orange weapon to 9%, and get 9 weapons instead of just four. Sorry Trion, but I'm not going to spend 64 keycodes for four weapons and only have a 7% chance for an orange.
Keycodes are much more difficult for me to come by. Maybe 5 from an Arkfall here, one or two from a re-playable mission (referencing Bolina's Smeltery or Seascape Farms), and that's it. You've taken the availability of keycodes away. Therefore, if you want me to spend them more willingly, please, increase the loot drops in higher tier lock boxes.
Some examples: Tier 2 have 2 weapons of at least Common rarity. Tier 3 have 3 weapons of at least Rare Rarity. Tier 4 have 4 four weapons of at least Ultra Rare rarity. Heck, keep the number of weapons the same for all I care, just give me my money's worth in a lock box.
Closing Thoughts
Trion, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making such a lovely game. Thank you for keeping your community informed. Thank you for a great gaming experience. I tip my hat to you, Trion.
And for you guys who have made it this far, thank you for reading, and feel free to comment below, whether it be sincere or trolling.
Have a great day, and happy hunting!

The source I gave was a collection of data from many players who submitted their information on what they got in all lockboxes over time, which pools the lucky players and the unlucky players. I myself have bought mostly tier 3 boxes and have come out very well with 10 oranges.
