Obviously you don't understand the nature of what Trion is attempting to do. Defiance was originally built for PC and that code is being converted and repackaged to run on both the XBox 360 and the PlayStation 3 with the exact same experiences for each group of users. Each platform is divergently different from one another although PC-Windows and the XBox 360 could be considered cousins. The PlayStation 3 is coded, packaged, and deployed in an entirely different way so each time a patch is built, it has to be coded, converted, and then tested to make sure it works exactly the same way.

Coding for the PlayStation 3 has always been difficult as there were issues with getting games up to proper framerates, accessing certain network data for matchmaking, and so on. Bigger publishers, such as EA and Activision-Blizzard, have had similar issues with deploying large titles across all three platforms and, in some cases, delayed the PlayStation 3 version of the game because of it. With Trion, they've never done it before so there will be some issues with patch deployment at the start and keeping up to timetable -- it's bound to happen when you do anything for the first time.

Metaphorically speaking, a skydiving instructor can tell you everything you need to know about packing a parachute, going up in a plane, and jumping at 7,000-10,000 feet but until you actually do it, you won't know what to expect or how it will actually go. This is effectively the same thing. Unlike the skydiving, this game dev stuff is not life or death so I can understand if they don't get it right the first time and there are delays. It is frustrating not having been told anything -- I get that as well -- but I do not believe that it is being done with any malice and that work on whatever fixes is getting done.

As I've said in another thread, I'm waiting until Wednesday before I start to be remotely concerned because then it will be two full shifts for both the dev and QA team provided that they got any of this past weekend off. By then, we should expect to hear something further.

Well as long as we do not see them turn out as another Bethesda Softworks
One has to appreciate however such the large scope of what the game is and i would hate to be the one doing the coding for the various platforms.

My only tiny concern about waiting for patches is that certain fixes only seem to be happening to Xbox and PC that would be handy right now, like making the Pilgrim appearances more frequent. Other than that, I don't mind waiting.

I like you. You aren't complaining. I must clone you and fill the forums with..you..although..it would be full of dirty gamers..and might get a bit smelly. Can we make your clones old but clean?

Wondering if this patch will possibly include servers so I, we can play with UK, Aussies, etc?

The patch notes were posted, and that was not included. It's likely that this will remain a region separated game.

Because of that, while they may have hired some personnel who are versed in those areas, the company as a whole are working in highly uncharted territory for them. Until they get used to the conversion processes necessary to create the PSN client easily, we will probably see some delays on submission for maybe one or two more cycles. Another thing to know is that PSN is very draconian about their policies, even with their own subsidiaries and patches or other submissions have to fit into their calendar which means that they can be embargoed for upwards to a week before release. Typically, unless the updates are server-side distributed (meaning that the updates are coming directly from Trion and won't change the executable client already installed on your PS3), new clients are released on Tuesdays along with the new releases unless some other arrangement is negotiated in advance.

The options Trion has is to either delay the patch deployment so that all versions get it at the same time (which would anger PC and XBL customers) or bite the bullet and allow the PS3 patches to deploy slightly behind the others until they can figure out a way to get them all up to speed submission-wise. As with anything, the submission process will take a little bit of work to get ironed out -- maybe another 2 or 3 patches but they should eventually have everyone on the same timetable.
This game was not ported from pc...

I understand everyone's frustration with patching, but shall I point you in the direction of Skyrim and how long it took to get our DLC for that. The submission process is terrible, cell is tough to code for, and there's the memory issue with the PS3. The last two is really what delayed for Skyrim so naturally a new company diving into this for the first time is going to have the same issues. I'd sooner have them late and let Trion get it right the first time instead of rushing stuff out and it making the game worse instead of better. Anyone remember the EVE Online patch bomb a few years ago?

The game originally was going to be a PS3 exclusive.....why do you think we don't have that much problems like PC and Xbox 360?
