Hi leet pwnerers, old gamer here. Bunny hopping looks dumb as hell, which is why most people hate it. I vote for a stamina bar that depletes after 3-4 jumps and must be recharged. Doesn't effect sprint. Problem solved.

Most people that use the word noobs are noobs themselves. Most old schools shooters like doom, quake, and unreal tournament are games were jumping is a big part of the game and old school gamers used it. When all these modern games came out were your jumping looks normal and you slow down your movement to aim was because they were targeting new players. New players prefer the modern way because their not used to the old-school way and I think its funny that they call the old school way of shooting a noob thing. The reason I prefer the old school way like unreal tournament is because its more about who has better aim and movement were modern games are more about who saw who first.
You also have to remember those old games ran on an engine that did not support ways to limit hopping without problem and many did not foresee bunny hopping as a problem.
However today we have the game engines to put in place anti-hopping without a hindrance to the games performance, also remember those old games where some of the first shooters so they set the pace, shooter games after those games learned to improve upon those shooters, bunny hopping was never intended as a core game mechanic in those old games, players just figured out that it worked and that it gave them the edge.
Yes jumping was in the game but not meant to bunny hop lol, like who in there right mind says, hey lets make a game where you can spam jump non stop and shoot people, the main reason is the unreal 1 engine gave players a slight speed boost when they jumped and of course made them harder to hit, but this was not a intended mechanic, I know this for a fact because they made some changes with the unreal engine 2 and 3 to counter this engine bug.
