    PS3 Defiance-voice chat

    Hi,
I am wondering if the Game Defiance on the PS3 system supports voice chat?
I am 69 year old player that has a Hearing loss, and have Paired my hearing aids with the PS3 bluetooth but when I start the game I am sure that the Pairing is Disabled and am just hearing through my Speaker system.
Is voice chat incorporated withing the game.
I have various options available to me for my condition, but unable to varify if any work.

Right now voice chat is only enabled in group and clan(?). I think area voice chat is getting implemented in an upcoming patch.

The game does support voice chat, however:

At the moment it is abysmal. Chatting with your party/group/clan is currently buggy as hell and most of the time doesn't work at all. You will be spending a lot of time restarting your PS3 in order to be able to hear people/have people hear you.

The range on the "area" selection of voicechat for people not in your party is abysmal. I've ran 10-15 steps away from someone and I could no longer hear them.

The issue you are having with sound coming through your speakers rather than your bluetooth is probably the setting inside of the XMB of the PS3. You can actually set it to either come through the headset, or through the bluetooth.

    Hi,
thanks for quick response...I guess I will have to team up with some one and check it out to be sure. Like I mentioned I am an old fart and fairly new to MMO type gaming on PS3 system. I did play Dungeons and Dragons on the PC for 2 years with voice chat, but that was done with a few apparatus i had (not bluetooth).
I am trying to figure out the game in regards to the mechanics...weapons, loadouts EGO and such. I am mainly doing all solo and doing a lot of extracting in some areas LOL

p.s. If voice chat is abysmal how do you communicate in groups...keyboard?

Since there's no strategy involved in any of the group missions it's not needed much.

yes kb is the way to area chat, for voice you must be grouped and even then it gives out sometimes after a coop or pvp event.

You can connect a USB keyboard to your PS3 to chat or use the full screen keyboard. However the section that the chat text is in only has about 1 line so pretty much next to impossible to actually hold a conversation. But because not many people use a KB on their PS3 and really don't want to use the full screen keyboard they don't really use the text chat much at all.

    I agree with kilo
I had purchased the Sony PS3 wireless headset and have not had issues at all talking to my buddy.
It does have a slider to choose if you want to hear more of voice or more of the game, i have it set in the middle but sometimes the game sounds get too loud so may have to adjust. As for area voice over i have never heard anyone while playing solo so it must not work. And nice to hear people of all ages playing this game
