Oh thank god! more content! oh wait.... nope just old stuff that takes less then 30 minutes...
How about before attempting to bring back old content then fix the current broken content that has been broken for almost 4 weeks, They find time to make stupid pointless changes like secret vendors changing to a person instead of a shop, Forcing different key bindings...
Give the support team a look as well, they are pretty crap at it they pass you from live chat to in game support constantly going back and forth then eventually you get an automated response that closes your ticket..
Fix the broken Chat and other social aspects.. Why in an MMO am i forced to do certain missions on my own? Its like you threw out the important and expected parts of an MMO and thought, nah we don't need that and then filled it with crap that prevents people playing together...
Proud owner of "Legendary Arkfall Hunter" from day 6 of release!
Sad and depressed owner of the reskinned outfit you get..
I see what you mean. But.. Take any show for example. You have to wait until after the season is over before they start playing reruns and bring it out on DVD for the public, right? I just look at it like that. In any case, What they decide to do with the missions is completely up to them.
Lol. Nice.
I do agree that they should prioritize better. A few episode missions is greatly insignificant in contrast to the entire game not functioning correctly. And I also agree that not being able to play all the missions CO-OP has definitely removed some of that classic MMO feel. All we can do is await the next patch and really hope that they pull through for us all.. Regardless of what happens though, a supportive and understanding community is key. If all we do is complain and tear the dev teams down then nothing good will come of that. Everyone needs to remember that this is the first true MMO to be brought to the xbox 360. There are bound to be many problems. - but those problems can and will be addressed.. eventually.. Haha. If you bought this game, you should have been fully aware of it's standing in the fact that it will be a work in progress. That's how I look at it at least.. But maybe i'm just a little biased towards new MMO's seeing as how nearly all of them have a rocky start..
Having the Episode Missions in the game would cause conflicts??? But having Nolan and Irisa in the opening cutscene doesnt???? LOL
What about people who just want to roll a new character, or for those who came to the party late.
I've been talking about this game for awhile now and have gotten several people to get it and/or watch the show... Alot just play catch up on Hulu or Defiance.com.
Soooo, with that said, taking the Episode missions out of the game makes absolutely NO sense...
PLEASE put them back in NOW... screw this after the season BS... You're gonna lose players...
Slowly but surely I'm losing hope for this game and its sad cause I like it a lot
For a DvD release, yes. But, just to let you know, the two previous Defiance episodes are not only on OnDemand right now and can be watched at anytime, but are even right there on the Syfy website in their entirety (http://www.defiance.com/en/series/video/2639565).
So, while a DvD release is post-season, needing to wait for a network to rerun the show post-season is not the reality anymore for most shows.
In other words: people can, and do, view a show at their own schedule, and are no longer locked into the strict weekly viewing format. We haven't been for years.
The Defiance team at Trion (not to be confused with the Rift team at Trion, which is lightyears ahead of this team), just doesn't seem to realize that yet.
I understand that they are available on-demand via their website and other various ways, but the point is that they're trying to keep the game and the show live and in tune with each other. If they brought them back out of sync, it would just cause confusion for the less informed players. As long as they bring them back after the season, i'm happy.
But I do get where you're coming from..
I guess all I can say is.. "To each his own."
Actually, I would say this way is potentially more confusing.
For example, I spent time this weekend apologizing to a pal of mine. Without talking to me first, he went out and bought Defiance (he bought the Xbox version). After it was all ready to go, he decided to start the episodes on OnDemand so he could get that story, and then do the episode stuff in game.
When I informed him that the original missions that tied into the Nolan-Irissa/Crystal segment were removed from the game to keep it in-line with the "weekly broadcast" . . . the next morning he took the price hit and just traded it to the game shop. He doesn't watch a show on a strict "every-week" schedule (he's a Police Offiicer) and could go a week or more without logging into a game. He felt that Trion/Syfy didn't market it right for how they want to handle it, was very disappointed as a non-game site lurking customer, and now Trion will not be receiving future cash shop or DLC revenue from him.
He has a ton of Shooter games and PC MMOs, he didn't a new one of either, and was willing to spend the dough because of the transmedia thing. A core concept of all their marketing that any customer without a "weekly viewing/play schedule" in 2013 is unable to enjoy; which makes Defiance just another oh-hum shooter game, and a very lackluster MMO, at best.
Think of it this way..
Imagine yourself playing some other generic average MMO..
There's a special limited-time event that happens in this MMO..
Your friend buys the game after the event ends and then is upset with the game's devs for not allowing him to play on his own schedule.
Although this is perfectly understandable in any other type of game with weekly content and/or DLC, this is an MMO.
And as I stated before, if you miss an event on an MMO, as much as it sucks you're just sh** out of luck!..
..That being said, this situation is much different then a generic MMO event..
Trion has made the fact that the game and show intertwine with each other a major selling point..
And when new players buy the game expecting to be able to jump right into this video game/TV show hybrid..
They're in for an incredibly disappointing surprise.
So in closing, I do agree with you that they should bring back episodic content.
but.. in order to keep that event-like feel, I think they should take away the major rewards from doing these episode missions, after the "event" ends..
That way those that are more dedicated to the game can reap awesome rewards, and the other players that are late to the party can still follow along with the storyline.
That's my opinion on all this.
