coop and missions?

Hey I was watching a stream of the game and the developers was talking about you can have up to 4 people in a group doing a mission. So if I try to play with my friend in a mission and he already has 3 people I can't join him?

We have a few different co-op missions / instances. If you and your buddies want to play 4 player co-op you can.

So there's no limit of the amount people that can help me in a mission?

The co-op instances are limited to 4 so you would need 3 of your friends to run it again with you (at least,i believe they are repeatable but i could be wrong) or you can que to go in with randoms if you have nobody else.The quests in the open world are only limited by the number of people around you,you don't have to be grouped with them to co-op these quests (same for arkfalls).

I really hope 3 of my buddies pick this game up haha i'm bad at making new friends lol!!! Then again I've come to this forum to possibly meet some like minded gamers so perhaps there is still hope yet haha....

Do you know if difficulty scales with the number of people participating in the mission? (Like the BL2 enemy damage modifier)

On one of the interviews from gamespot, Trost said that all instances are designed around having 4 people, and cant be done with less. This means there will not be any difficulty scaling for instances/dungeons.

Thanks for that. Sorry to be annoying but do you know if difficulty scales on story missions? (Will it be tougher to complete on your own?)

I dont know about story missions, as they are USUALLY meant to be solo, with cutscenes and such, but as far as I have seen, story missions are capable of being soloed or partied. I'm not sure, alot of this is speculation. Just remember, this is an MMO, so its not like any shooter you ever played on the 360. If a mission happens on the overall map, you can have hundreds of people participating, easily. I doubt too many missions will require that many people, but most probably arent so difficult as to need that many.

I'm sure you'll be able to to a bulk of the story stuff solo but all the side stuff will probably focus on co-op...that'd be my guess...

who knows...maybe we're all wrong and the game will be super easy because we can Summon stuff with materia to do the fighting for us :P
