If that wasn't bad enough, I walk for 2 minutes, enter a building, and then fall off the world...end up miles away in a different part of the map too.

Ran into same problem earlier with a group of friends. We joined a shadow war, once it was finished took care of the bug. Hope this helps
This is not just an Xbox problem. I run the PC version and have had an empty world for over an hour of trying and relogging. It always gives me the "Defiance servers are not available" error, then i hit Try again and it logs in..... to nothing. No mobs, no vehicles...
SAME EMPTY WORLD ISSUE on my Xbox 360: I just bought the game. After 13 failed patch attempts. Uninstalls, deletions, cache clearing, etc. (Watched the show on SyFy for 1 hour during 1 patch attempt) It finally makes it through patching without a crtiical error. 5 hours of trying!
So I make it through the tutorial with enemies and (other players with no name tags) with no issue. I jump over the wall like all of you after saving Cass. And now I too am in the empty world. I set waypoints to the lockboxes and mission markers on the map and reach the destinations only to find nothing there.
Nothing to kill or see along the way. Just an empty world. I ran through a matchmaking battle. Came back out to the same issue. Shadow war did nothing. I was the only 1 in that mode. It said waiting for other players forever. I left SWTOR on my PC for this game after a long break from my console. I spent more money to reactivate my Xbox Live gold account to play Defiance. Now that's ticking away for a damn game I cannot play. It seems patches break the game more than the last one here as well. Just like Swtor. Great!
I also punched in 120/120 ark codes on my PC while linking my console. I received 15 things. 1 of which was a 4 runner bike. I push up on the D-pad. The horn beeps. No bike. Maybe I still have to learn that skill? Or that is bugged too? My character points his gun forward when it beeps. But there is nothing to click on to mount it.
LMAO, good advice.
I can play but there is no one around and no enemies. Can't go to missions, cant see my buggy. I can do quick match and that's it.
