I seem to have missed the tie in between last weeks build and this weeks episode of the show. I heard it was supposed to tie in with the floating lanterns, but those lanterns, I think, only appeared on screen for half a second near the end of the episode. Funny thing is that the lanterns tied in perfectly with an Episode of Hemlock Grove, the new Netflix modern horror series, which had me wondering if Trion didn't actually get their signals crossed some where. I'm sort of expecting to see werewolves or the Order of the Dragon pop up in game this week.
Seriously though, the initial Episode Mission that shipped with the game is exactly what they should be doing for every episode of the show. That tied in with the show in a really cool way, as well as adding some nice story content to the game. Looking at how much scripted and voiced story content made it into games like Guild Wars 2, Star Wars the Old Republic and Secret World, along with how short the main story line is in this game, there really is no excuse for not having voiced and scripted Episode Missions for every one of the 13 episodes in a season of the show.
A good portion of the appeal of this game for me was to see how well they could pull off the show tie ins. This really could be a first step in an entirely new way to enjoy Television/Media, but for more to follow Trion really has to not mess it up. So far they are 1-1 and I'm worried that Episode Missions will be a very rare experience moving forward.
