I have always felt that bunny hopping should not be in games especially where it allows a person to fire their weapon when hopping. But all the fanboi's will come and cry and defend it saying it is skillful to do and if they remove it, they would be lowering the skill of the game and ruining it for those that are skilled.

Just like all the fanbois that play CoD and do it or Halo and do it. Just be glad this game does not have drop shotting in it.

The problem with this is that strafing changes your head's position on x while hopping changes your head's position on x AND y

i will point out i myself am not a fan of using it, purely because its been too easy to counter (btw, quake 3, railgun, teaches would-be bunny hoppers to stay on the ground).

and because i had to replace enough keyboards playing a ranger in everquest that i just can't afford the collateral damage caused, for a non-existent bonus in a game, for an intangible reward.

sure top killer for the round is nice and all... but does that mean the game reaches out and hands me $20 for a cheap replacement keyboard at the end of the round? no, sadly. (otherwise i'd have been playing my ranger the full 13 years, instead of off and on)

i'm not really defending it. i'm making fun of the rest of you for not being able to adapt to something that has existed in games for over 10 years now.

Yeah but when hopping your destination is predetermined. While strafing you have more mobility. Which is why usually a skilled strafe will beat a halo hop in most cases.
If you dare try and cross the Q. The stash will unleash its rath.

Bunny hopping in pseudo tactical shooters is bad because is goes against the very mechanics of the game and it makes it feel like a "cheap" way to be annoying and force a miss.

Defiance is definitely much more arcadey, like Quake or UT. Here, the dodging and jumping over obstacles makes gameplay much faster and twitch reactions more important than careful "tactical" aiming.

TL;DR: You should expect the enemy to move erratically in this game. Also, aim up - shoot in face.

east fix for bunny hopping, make bloom x100... seriously, who can aim while jumping? I believe if you are in slow-motion and there is a enemy complex building behind you exploding, and you dont look back, then you can have perfect aim while jumping, but that is a rare exception.

If you really think anyone "flys back ten feet" from a shotgun blast, then you've seen one too many Quentin Tarantino movies. In reality your buddy running and jumping would give him more than enough interia to remian in his forward arc despite getting shot.
Also, there is so many things wrong with defiance's assimilation of "Earths gravity" like the ability to jump 6ft, not shattering every bone in your characters body from falling 100's of ft, the fact hitting a small flat rock sends your ATV rocketing into the air... I like how the lack of "knock back" is the physic-based anomaly you noticed.
Idk why people keep calling this exploit, that's like arguing reloading before a clip is empty is cheap, or climbing over obstacles instead of going around them or jumping down from heights instead of using the stairs/ladder in the game enviornment...
Be WARNED: I play Xbox with a mouse and a PlayStation move controller... I will out-shoot, out-turn, and out-play you every time at 4000 dpi... Just saying =]

No accuracy penalty is the problem, you can shoot pretty well with shotguns while jumping around like a mad person.
Dodge roll on the other hand moves you sideways efficiently but takes away any offensive options.

The complaint is valid as hopping is not very graceful or fun and leads to a lot of issues with the weapon types available in this game.

UT reference ... that was a game that had a bit of a different weapon pool to chose from, not to mention the maps that didn't only encourage but most of the time require frequent jumping.
Quake's the same to a certain point, while there were factors that encouraged and some that denied hopping.
Also, these are games where a head shot mechanic were limited to very few weapons that were either rarely used or had other side effects, unlike defiance that is a lot closer to CS or BF franchise in terms of 'critical hit zones' among other things.
Simply put, you're a fool for comparing Quake and UT with Defiance and expecting things to line up ... it's not even close to the same sub genre.
