My only issue is I can't seem to get any orange equipment. Lol other than that no real complaints.

No.
I expected this game to be functional on a technical level. I played quite a few MMOs and this is by far the worst functioning game I've come across. And the biggest downside is that all of it's problems are preventing it from standing on it's own merits. It's hard to judge a work of art like a painting as either good or bad when that work of art is constantly closed, missing pieces, the lights are flickering, it falls off the stand and faceplants, or the glass in the frame shatters and obscures the view.
There IS something here that is very enjoyable...but it's quickly losing out to the constant frustrations with the technical aspects.

As a shooter, it has met my expectations though they screwed up with the online aspect by putting things client side that should be server side to prevent alterations. This is becoming more and more abundant on all systems as time goes by.
As an mmo? not even remotely. So many key features are missing that make the other problems more obvious.
There is pretty much zero social aspect to this game at the moment on the pc, the voice chat is so terrible that it makes you want to mute it and the text chat is even worse. While they say they're fixing these things, these things should have been there from the start.
The technical aspect of things has met my expectations because I expected bugs and I expected a lot of problems during the launch. But after the three week mark, those excuses don't fly anymore.
Though it's funny that you pretty much said that only reasonable people can have their expectations met. Keep up the good work.

Kinda.
It's a fun game, I've enjoyed it. I love that it's an MMO. I don't care about the server issues and glitches. I knew that would be an issue from the start. The mechanics are not perfect but functional. I could go on and on about how they hit sub par..but my issue is fricken items.
It's all about the Loot and the loot just feels..meh. I am still very pissed off at how basic all the shields and grenades are. Very little sense of strategy or change with them. I have white Nades from ego 100 that are still just as good as nades at 1,200 ego and they are Blue. It took me getting through about 80% of the game before finding shields with any sort of affects. Though still, I can go through 10-20 shields of junk (White-purple) that just makes me feel meh about them. No sense of improvement there at all.
I love the different gun classes, but there still falls the stats. I get they wanted to make the ego difference a shallow pool so everyone can play together. But it just makes me wonder why I bother working for any of the loot. The #1 reason I switch out a gun is because I hit it's level cap, not because I found an awesome new one I love.
There needs to be more value in the time you spend and effort you put in. I don't care about a gun that does just 5 more damage over my last one...and usually has crapy bloom or accuracy. >_>
People keep calling it an MMO Borderlands..but they are missing the #1 thing that makes Borderlands epic..epic loot.

I will be 100% honest here as an mmo player since the EQ era.
It WILL probably meet my expectations in 2 or 3 years like most online shooters.
Defiance is a great game concept but is lacking content and size badly.
The map is the smallest i have ever seen so far in 14 years of online gaming, the main storyline will take about 1 to 2 weeks for you to complete, and what is left is little repetitive side missions with the same voice over again and again that, also, can be done in no time.
The core of the weapon system is extremely weak, clunky, and not even relevant as the game is SO easy, that i can play it, with a noob weapon, NO mods at all, while i am texting my girlfriend, and make myself a sandwich at the same time, even if it is very nice and fun for a while, in the end, i never found any real challenges whatsoever. Except the 1st time i tried to beat Nim.
Speaking of the mod system, it is half finished, it has been thrown in the game at random, with some weaps not even compatible with mod slots, and all the synergy currencies you will try to get while doing contracts are basically a waste of time, since you can be as powerful with any other weaps with white regular mods.
I found myself, like MANY having not much to do after 2 or 3 weeks of play, besides co-op and pvp, and trust me, as an Alpha and Beta tester, i tried to enjoy the game a LOT.
What i truly love about the game is the storyline and characters, the fun you have to do Arkfalls with others (Until no one will want to do them being bored, Example : Rift) and the vehicles.
The TV series is an amazing one as well, although sadly, the interaction between the two, is not at all what the early dev videos, stream and diaries were telling us, it is minimal, and even lower than minimal, I mean lighting some lanterns and some armistice pursuits?... C'mon guys, if this is what you call a breakthrough in interactivity... Seriously now... I also love the co-op maps which are fun and very well done. And as for bugs? No need to talk about bugs, all games have bugs.
Now for the chat system, we will also pass on that one, as there is, basically, no chat system in Defiance, which sadly provides almost zero social interaction, and yes it is needed badly and as for the online micro store, we will also pass on this one, as not needed at all, you can get almost 98% of ALL the outfits you'll find in the store, simply doing co-op missions, and pusrsuits, the only minor difference for all of them will be the tones (Colours). Paying $10.00 usd for dark tan, instead of light brown? Not really.
So all and all this game needs a LOT of work, IF it wants to be considered a true innovative interactive MMORPG, as so far it is a very good online shooter game, but not an amazing mmorpg, compared to the TV series which is a masterpiece, and considering the tons of amazing real mmorpgs that are coming out:
Neverwinter in 5 days, then The Elder Scrolls Online, ArcheAge Online etc etc... the list is a long one.
Trion need to get into 6th gear if they want to keep the players here.
And i am wishing them good luck, as they have a gem in their hands with a lot of potential.
No time to ride the line!
Ive played it more then any other shooter ive ever owned, so ill use that to say, yes, its exceded my expectations
