In short, my expectations were met.

I have hope and faith in Trion to make the game better. While the game does hold my attention, it has passed that point of "OMG I NEED to play" and has turned into "I should play so I can lvl my EGO some more", and that mainly comes from that I am competitive among my friends :P

Some more variety in emergencies would be nice, I like the Turf War emergency concept, and I think it could be taken further and made into an Arkfall event, minor and major variations.

I am looking forward to some actual episode missions, I found the first set to be interesting.

It's very hard to justify the impressive qualities of a game while faced with so many negatives. Above all else, I think that when a person plays a game, "I would like to it to play and work as intended, without technical difficulties," is right at the top of the list.
    - If you watch a DVD, do you expect it to not pause or stutter?
    - When you purchase a new car, do you expect it to run and get reliably from A to B, regardless of how comfortable the ride may or may not be?
    - When you buy a mobile phone, do you expect it to make calls and connect, despite what apps and features it may or may not have?

It comes down to basic functionality, and when something does not function, not only does it fail to meet that expectation, but also dampers the ability to examine the rest of the product. A Porsche with a broken engine that won't run isn't a Porshe...it's a "car with a borken engine that won't run." The same can be said for Defiance: It's a busted car. It may be a flashy and nice Porsche for some, or a beat up Pinto to others, but it's still a broken car.

As far as my other expectations go, the only thing that disappoints me is the overall lack of immersion in this game, which is surprising in an MMO. Thankfully the core combat and gunplay is strong enough to keep me hooked, but in the end that may not matter, or not matter for very long.
    Great post Mr Squid...

The real question is why are WE on the forums, including you and me : )
The answer is that we probably did the full storyline twice by now, all the side missions and co-op maps.

Then we could spend time again into pvp, which is great, buuut also wasting time waiting in queue, looking at:
Waiting for 9 more players... 8 more players...7 more players.... Ooooooops! back to 10 more players.....

Which again, being patient and a nice person, isn't so bad in itself.

But in the end, as amazing as the TV series is... (And yes it is amazing)
This is not what we mostly expected for a revolutionary interactive MMORPG.

So far, Defiance is a good online shooter lacking a lot in size and content.

No time to ride the line!

Some of us here can multitask something fierce.

I just wish they would post the servers coming down, ideally in advance. Seems the servers go down and sometimes I spend 10-15 minutes pounding the re-connect before they put a post on the server status. With that, and chance of posting timezone with the server status? does PST/EST/GMT, I mean 3 extra characters on a canned post take that much effort?

Ultimately I would have to say no not yet.

I have played too many mmo's over the last decade to list so of course I expected bugs. Many of them I am certain will be fixed eventually. During the alpha/beta for Defiance I enjoyed the general feel of the game and that has not changed. Since release I have been fortunate compared to many others because I was able to complete the main, story, and side missions while they were still trying to log in. I was happy with those missions with the exception of the forced soloing for some of them. Now I am at a point where the bugs are starting to bother me though. It's difficult to want to play when pursuits/skills reset, pvp is irritating, loot isn't appropriate based on time and difficulty, and I find myself using runners instead of rollers fearing a skill reset.

Having said all that if this were any other mmo based on my experience alone and only three weeks since release I would be fairly impressed with Defiance. The problem is that I wasn't expecting just another mmo. This one has a t.v. show and is supposed to be something new. I was expecting there to be a much bigger connection between what happens in the game and what happens in the show. Hopefully there will be but I haven't seen it yet.

Trion needs to drop some of the secrecy in my opinion and let the players know what to expect in the future preferably with a rough timetable. I for one am not impressed with a company that tries to sell a dlc pack prior to the game release and then doesn't even tell people what they are buying.
