So the game "lacks"content that finishing touch and I am wondering if the game is falling behind on the show?

    Cold Fire Blues

Amanda wore her arm in a sling throughout Episode 2, an injury inflicted by a cold fire weapon during the battle with the Volge. Cold fire-wielding Volge "will be" one of the most dangerous enemies players face in battling around the ruins of the Bay Area.

    Armistice Festival

Amanda led the people of Defiance in celebrating Armistice Day, which marked the end of the Pale Wars that nearly destroyed the planet. Just as they celebrate on the TV show, players in the game will witness celebratory evidence as they explore San Francisco.

    Enter the Volge

The Volge are a deadly race of bellicose aliens intentionally left behind when the Votans' system was destroyed (except – surprise –they weren't so left behind). When they turn up, Volge are among the nastiest enemies in the game.

    Ara Shondu

When Amanda is lying to her sneaky assistant Ben, she claims that she's got an upcoming meeting Ara Shondu. Shondu is the Mayor of Paradise, a settlement in the Bay Area that is featured in the game.

So we have no Volge and can someone point out the Paradise settlement, closest thing to a settlement is the iron demon ranch? Armistice celebration, I personally found this one a bit underwhelming, but I didn't catch an Armistice day vibe from the show either.

What is interesting however are the data recorders and some connect Ara to a meeting and plans involving the mag-lev line, possibly if it is to succeed from yuma new-york followed by expanding it to the bay area. The bay area is also a rich mining region of Gulanite, much like Defiance. My understanding is that fast quantities are needed for the mag-lev project?

This would give 2nd motives for the E-rep expedition to the bay area and what would exterminating Defiance mean for their goals? Easy access or a hindrance? Why does the hunt for that item, include the necessity to wipe out Defiance?

on the Contrary, you are ignoring something obvious. The old city itself.

Founding is not the same as settling. Founding would be when the government and town charter were put into place, not when people started congregating/settling in the area.

Quoting myself to make a bigger point.

    is the same as

Its the Compton Hill Water Tower, if I am not mistaken. (this means that the mines are above Compton)

Also, according to this image they were down at least a quarter mile. (the tallest building in St. Louis is 593 ft tall)

With the uplift of the arch, yet not more than a mile away the building are still intact, you can see what is important. Dug up the old city. Its been sealed off for 9 years.

Google earth shot of ST. Louis for the same perspective that the show loves to do.

I originally believed Defiance was only maybe a sq. mile in size. Now I believe it is larger.
And for the record according to show most of the downtown was sealed intact.

I-70 is in the north quadrant of the city.
Finally I believe now that Nolan and Rafe were in Kiener park. Still can't find the darby Building.

While that works for you, that doesn't work when writing script. See this isn't a soap opera its a sci-fi drama. Everything said leads somewhere. Might not be in that episode but it does go somewhere. They f**ked up.

    One final thought for now:

see the Eagleton federal courthouse in the upper center. its 557 feet tall. The top dome is undamaged. There is almost as much distance above it as there is below it. It would be easy to fly a helicopter above the building. Thats how far down they are and that's probably the motivation to get the maglev here all the other wierd machinations.
