Help, I've ran out of things to do!
The only currently feasible thing left to do is Snipe from the Shadows III and 5000 bolt action kills makes me wish someone sniped me from the shadows!

There might be a tiny little bit of tedium at higher ego levels.

sorry but you are just no lifers

people... you should get some real life this game is not for you - hardcore players with no real life or job This game is not for classical MMO RPG lovers. You should leave forum and game and come back after next patch/content/Dlc. This game is for causal players who like sci-fi and third person action and they want to play in the world from the Tv show. They want to feel atmosphere of that future world. do you know there are many games so take a break from defiance and come back later or just play defiacne less hours per day and play some other MMO or COOP or SP game.
This game is not RUSH STRESS MOD for no life players... this game is just for fun and relax - shooting shooting and shooting enemies in endless line you know you come home from job and you want some fun or just a break from real world .. you play defiacne to have some relax

BTW no matter what you haters say... MORE and MORE people play this game ...DEFIANCE has come back to top 10 on steam after TV show started.

I quit before even completing the main quest.

This game reminds me of Guild Wars 2 though. Everything being frivilous with no real rewards. I didn't find Defiance tedious unless it involved navigating the UI.

    Okay, people. Chill out.

Note to readers/fellow Ark Hunters: Don't take offense to anything I am about to say. All I'm doing is stating my opinion, just like the rest of you. None of this is aimed at any one particular person, as it is basically a general output of my opinion/advice. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, but if you do, awesome. If you don't want to read this long post, scroll to the bottom and read the *tl;dr.

First off, I would like to say that I have been enjoying the heck out of Defiance (both the game and the show). However, I have seen many others complain and show distaste/disinterest in Defiance for several reasons. I'm going to list some of the complaints seen often across the Defiance blogs and forums, and I'm going to state my opinion about most of them. Once again, I mean no offense, so please just hear me out.

To start, I'll talk about probably the most common of the complaints: The Bugginess... The game was released just a few weeks ago on April 2nd, 2013. Since this isn't your standard console, single player shoot-em-up, slice 'n' dice, exploration, ***-kickin' RPG (Halo, Skyrim, Fallout, Persona, Final Fantasy, etc. you get the point), but instead, an MMO, there is a lot to consider. Some people say, "Why couldn't they fix all these problems in the beta phase?!?" Well, people, it's not that simple. There is a drastic increase in number of players from the beta phase on the day of release of ANY game. It can be a bit to handle. Think about it this way (I like analogies): Imagine that, for your whole life, you only took tiny little baby craps. What if, one day, you had one massive turd coming?? Would your body be able to handle it?? I doubt it. You'd probably cry like a baby; I know I would. Do you see the Trion team crying about it?? No! They wiped the **** up the best they could and have been working day and night stitching together the gaping butthole that was left behind. Good on them. They're big kids and they're handling their business as best they can. The least you can do is try and be a big kid too. Also consider the fact that a lot of these problems might not have happened while beta testing and that there are many problems that are just "user error" (aka the players aren't always the smartest of people). Also, you need to consider the fact that they are on a schedule. The show came out last Monday, April 15th, 2013, on the SyFy Network. The show comes out with new episodes every Monday night at the same time. Trion has no control over that, so they had to get as much done as they could so that they could release the game a couple weeks before the show. They knew it wouldn't be perfect; they never said it would be. They are working on it though, so be big kids and have patience. The final thing to consider is the fact that this is the first major MMO for console gaming since FFXI (and we all know how well that went...). This is basically a new frontier for MMO gaming, so , to be one of the first to take a step in this direction, and the first to take a step this big, I'd say that's impressive.

Oh, and there's also the possibility that any bugs you experience are due to a crappy Xbox (or PS3/PC) and a crappy internet connection, which is your own damn problem. Trion's not going to send anyone to your house to reconfigure your crappy modem, router, or heaven forbid, some dial-up ****. I play on the NA 360 servers, and, honestly, my internet connection isn't stellar, but I haven't had any major problems. To people who say they continuously get kicked off the servers or can't stay on for more that 10 minutes without the game crashing, I have never been kicked from the game except the one time I got on when the servers were going down for maintenance. Suck it.

Next on my list are the complaints about the gameplay style. People complain saying things like "THIS IS A CRAPPY MMORPG!! LEVELING DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING, THERE AREN'T ANY SKILLS, EVERYTHING SUCKS!!!" Shut up. Let me say this: Defiance... IT'S NOT A FRIGGIN' RPG!!!!!! It's a TPS (third-person shooter, for those not-so-acronym-savvy people out there), you know, like Mass Effect or Dead Space. MMOTPS, not MMORPG. Defiance is a third-person shooter that takes place in a persisting world with thousands of active players. It's not meant to be the same as RPGs , MMO or SP (WoW, Rappelz, Skyrim, Fallout, Guild Wars, etc. you get the picture). In a TPS, nobody cares about mana, agility, woodcutting, or becoming a "lvl 80 Paladin of Chodes," and it's not all about getting the edge on opponents with big numbers. In a TPS, numbers are often just to show everyone else that you are more experienced than them and just a badass in general, with the addition of being able to equip some different equipment and whatnot. TPSs are all about showing off your guns and your HATS!!!! TF2 reference, sorry. Everyone has the same HP (with the exception of players with certain perks equipped), everyone has the ability to do the same amount of damage to enemies regardless of level, and all this is done without needing skills and attributes. Remember, even though set in the future and though there are aliens, Defiance is set on Earth, therefore magic is irrelevant. All you need is a gun and the ability to breathe (and, on occasion, think).

This next topic will be my last (for now). It's about people complaining about lack of content. While I do somewhat agree that the Main Mission story line is (currently) kinda short, and things may seem "tedious" (kinda typical with MMOs"), the content is still there and content is still coming (but, like I said earlier, they are on a schedule that is controlled partly by the SyFy side of the operation). Don't forget that there is new content released weekly (while not always missions like the Episode 1 missions, there will be some sort of events and pursuits released for every episode). I have completed the main mission, and and at that point, many are like, "What do I do now??? THIS IS SOOOOO BORING!!!" Shut up. First, if you can't hold your pee in long enough to wait for new content (which will likely be released before the end of the month), you can always replay the main missions. It's got a decent enough story that it can hold your attention for at least a little while. Also, there are other games and other things to do. People complain about running out of things to do and being bored and just getting upset in general. I say to those people, get a damn life. The only way that it's possible to complete all content within a few days is if you sit in front of your telly playing 24/7. I have played every day since release, yet I'm only Power Rating 593, I just completed the main story this Sunday, and I still have a bunch of challenges and side missions to complete. If you're worried about running out of content too quickly, take a break, play another game for a while, have a drink or two or seven, get your *** up and do something! The game's content will last a lot longer that way, leaving you more satisfied in the end. Just sayin'.

On another note, watch the show if you don't already. You miss out on a lot by not watching, and you'd find the answers to a lot of the... well.. "less intelligent" questions you've been asking. Keep up to date with blogs, newsletters, forums, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and "Across the Badlands" (the live stream with game devs that airs on TwitchTV after every episode on Monday nights. I bet many of you don't know that even exists...) The more you keep up with all content from every media source available, the more you'll get out of the whole Defiance experience.

That brings us to the conclusion of this "rant" (if you'd call it that). For those of you who are still enjoying the game, add me on XBL and find me within the wold of Defiance. gamertag - travelingdance In-game Name - Loren Barr

    Thanks for Reading

@Travelingdance - Good lord! Lots of people seem to be posting essays in the form but it's always enjoyable to read. I would also sign this part in particular

It's why I'm down in Florida now, exercising and rollerblading and have been itching to play. I will also have a WiiU with Monster hunter to snag my attention so it will be a good process of going back and forth. Two long games which will require breaks will be nice. Though work will sadly get in the way to because life happens

@Myst I don't like having long, drawn-out conversations/arguments, so I try to get out all I have to say at once. That way, people don't get a chance to make a comment or ask a question about something I'm about to explain :P I play the game daily, but I'm in school majoring in Music, so between classes and rehearsals as well as just hanging out with friends, I've got plenty to fill my time between Ark Hunting sessions. Some people take gaming a bit too seriously. I mean, the competitive aspect of it is cool to an extent, but it should be fun. Why do people insist on taking the fun out of gaming?? Oh well...

The game IS tedious. Different people with different levels of intelligence/taste will realize this at different speeds.

For example some people might actually like doing the same quest over and over and people of lesser intelligence won't notice the horrible ai as quickly.
