    Say no to purchasing scrip!!!

There are players in the game offering scrip for money. DO NOT PARTAKE IN THIS. You will literally waste your money or possibly get nothing because you will be scammed.

This could be referred to as Scrip Farming like in WoW or other MMOs as Gold/Credit Farming.

I mention this because there are a ton of people on Defiance who have never played an MMO before and with any in-game currencies, PoSs like to do this than actually get a job and support America or any other country they play in.

I mean, gold farmers make MAJOR bank (when done seriously). Selling gold 'supports America' just as much as being an accountant or something.

But foes real, most are scams. And scrip is completely worthless at the moment... not worth buying in the first place.

Scam insinuates a fraudulent transaction. While it may be true for the developer that this would constitute what would amount to a scam, because the player is selling virtual property that really isn't theirs. In all practicality as long as the player provides the items that were purchased then it isn't a scam. That isn't to say I don't agree with the sentiment. That buying from gold farmers is bad. Players should earn their progress, but seeing as this games developer sells in game progress for real world currency. I am not seeing the detriment.

Look some gold farmers are misanthropic jerks who are out to make a killing by running bots. Others however are just people who are down on their luck, unemployed, and are trying to pay the bills by doing something that they were going to do anyway by playing a game. We have people that are trying to steal the crown jewels, and we have people stealing a loaf of bread to feed their family.

I honestly don't see this as being that big of a problem in this game. Given that the developer is already the dealer for just about everything and the kitchen sink. Plus the incentive just isn't there. Equipment and all of the resources are so overly balanced they are generic.

People who buy game currency for real money support sweat shops and child labor.

Because that's who's doing the work, people. All that scrip you just bought was farmed in a dingy basement in a third world country by a four year old kid who hasn't had a break for 72 hours straight.

If you don't want your kid working like that, why ask someone else's child to do it for you?

Say no to Scrip Farmers. Make a difference.

Please there are no sweat shops, and there isn't any child labor. That is pure, and straight up nonsense. Now the basement in some third world country where half a dozen guys run bots all day long I can absolutely see happening. You know what though I haven't seen a single bot in this game. Given that the developer is a dealer itself, and the population is neither super massive, or at all likely to become large there isn't the incentive. A single gold farmer has to service a large number of players for it to be practicable. Oh I am sure some thirteen year old out there is going to make a go of it, but this game is too small fry for the more corporate element.

Who would be dumb enough to pay real money for something that is completely useless in game?

Most everyone I know is approaching 500K in scrip in their inventory because there is pretty much nothing worthwhile to spend it on. Its only 180 to extract...Mods are incredibly cheap...Vehicles are cheap and weapons are cheap and not worth buying for the most part...You get an insane amount of loot drops and even if you are breaking down most of that for resources you should still be making an insane amount of scrip.

Why would anyone waste good money on virtual merchandize in a game where the reward is actually earning it for yourself? I will tell you why. A great many people are lazy, and a great many people are insecure. They would rather other people do the drudgery while they reap the real rewards. It isn't a entirely stupid philosophy however. Mindless grinding is also very much a waste of time, and if you want something, but it means thirty or forty hours of doing something you would rather not do. Shelling out five or ten dollars doesn't seem all that bad.
