    What's the point of clans?

Other than myself, I have yet to notice a single player that isn't already in a clan. Like the rest of you, I've been spammed a bunch of times to join one, but I really don't see the point?

Sure, in WoW, for instance, being in a Guild protected you from waiting in a 45 min Dungeon queue, only to have some ****** tank wipe the group on the first pull, argue with the healer over who's fault it was, ultimately leaving the 3 DPS alone to start the whole process over. Co-ops can't really be "messed up" by a single individual like in other games, though. Mobs just don't come out wildly chasing, so in most cases the only person dying is the one that incited them in the first place.

Having other members with different skills also made overpriced trips to the AH unessesary. We don't have any of that here. Other than trading, which can be done with anyone, what possible benefits are there to being grouped together in the Defiance setting? Other than a small percentage bonus for stats/scrip/ect?

Truthfully, I'm not really a fan of online gaming, so I'd be adverse to joining one, anyway, but at least in other games, even though I'm not interested, I can understand the desire to be in one. Here, however, I really don't. Am I missing something? Is it just a social thing? Is it simply more fun to be running a co-op or PVP with a group of "like-minded" people? I understand, I guess, I just don't really get it, ya know?

if pvp wasn't so broken there'd be a reason, as of now, it's pretty pointless. I actually spend more time playing w/ people who aren't in my clan.

I made one with just my wife for a few reasons: to prevent Clan invite spam, to have another chat channel, and to have a nifty title over my head.

The other reason I dont really bother with, is you can buy boosts that affect all clan members. These boosts work in addition to personal boosts, so add up.

It's a social thing for me, I was already in one and some of us came to play this game.
Though I mostly solo play, we do some co-ops, some PvP and help each other out if anybody is struggling.

So people who are actually social and can make friends have a unified flag to fight under. And the boosts.

Yes, it's there, and no, you probably haven't completed it all.

At this point, there aren't really a lot of tangible game mechanical benefits if that's what you're asking OP. It's mostly community oriented at this point. I'm sure there a plans to develop clans further.

well as of now its somewhat useless - besides chatting rarely if chat works and some group runs .. but its hard to organize with lack of features and broken chat.

Another thing is just the name - but you dont even see that most of the time unless you target the player.
    Clan boost bonuses.

And those who randomly invite are worthless clans - trying to get people in who may have clan boosts so they get the bonus also.

I only accept peopel that have matchign interests/gameplay views etc tho mostly i still play solo or with random players.

Glorified chat channel, hopefully using vent/mumble?

Clans serve no purpose beyond what a couple of buddies can achieve.

Which is another reason why this game is NOT an MMO, but just a console shooter with a larger lobby.

Yes i up until yesterday was either going solo or with a buddy.
Did get a clan invite in game and said ok. But i too do not see the point of it all at least not at this point
I think the game is still early however and things can change

OP: At the moment, just boosting and social capabilities, but they have plans in the works to add more depth to clans, such as clanwars and maybe even territories. But, it's still new so we just have to be patient before we can reap the rewards.
