^This. Mine is just used for flavor text. I'm about to change it real soon.

Hopefully they'll eventually add Raids and clan pvp matches.

    Yes, it's a social thing.
But, to a lot of people.. playing in such a heavily populated world by yourself, is a bit depressing. Clans offer an immediate outlet to party up with a group.

    Social, nothing more.

And boosts? Who needs boosts for this game? Really?

There are also social pursuits that require doing co-op and competitive games with friends and clan mates. Such as play a co-op map in a full group of friends or do a shadow war with 15 clan mates.

It took me a few tries to find a decent clan, but after I did I have enjoyed this game much more than before. I think there are multiple reasons to be in a (good) clan. First and most importantly is the social aspect. There is almost always someone and usually quite a few people from my clan playing. Because Im on xbox and my clan mates are on my friends list, I just pick one and join his party since the whole clan will be in that party. A lot of times during the night hours or weekends there are more than 8 clan members on so we switch to clan chat which has been working fine. Its just more fun to be talking to people while playing, period.

In game, Ill take last night as an example, we were mainly arkfall hunting. Whats cool is that someone from the clan was always pretty close to the next one and hed go there and we could all just jump to him and get going quickly. There were quite a few arkfalls where we finished with the top 5 spots and a few more in the top 20. Its here I wished they listed your clan on the scoreboard so you could see what clans were doing what.

Also its easier to see your clan mates on the minimap and to know when they go down and where so you can quickly go revive them. We usually dont even use our auto revives simply so that we can help our clan achieve the revive requirements for pursuits.

A few days ago we went data recorder hunting. As a large group we just went through the list and made sure everyone got each one before moving on. This was being led by people who already had them and knew where they were so it went pretty smoothly.

Some days we just do co-op missions. We make sure that everyone gets every requirement while doing them, even if it means waiting around for a bit so that someone can kill 15 rats. There is a mission where you must kill 50 raiders and if we do it with someone who doesnt have that yet then the rest of us let him get the bulk of the kills. We drive around in the cerberus and run people over, nobody complains nobody runs ahead, its just a good way to be able to get these harder pursuits.

Last weekend 7 of us got in our vehicles and lined up at Tranquility Road. We let the guy on the runner count us off lol, and we raced to Shondou's Consulate on the East Coast. We each put up 10000 scrip and paid the winner (not me I drove into the water lol) when we got there. It was ridiculously funny with everyone trying to find the quickest route (no waypoints).

We also trade weapons, we know who tends to use what weapon and if we find a good one we wont use we just give it to someone who can. We trade mods with synergys people need, its just way handier to have a group batch of stuff to choose from given the utter randomness of the stuff you get from boxes.

Then theres the clan boosts (which we have running a LOT) and the specified game nights (which are listed on the clan website) and the ability to put together well oiled 6v6 or 8v8 teams and the ability to go large scale into a Shadow War. I think if your not in a (good) clan then you're missing a lot.

Good points, everyone. I admit I'm a bit socially inept. In WoW, I was invited by a family member, into an established Guild, who later left me there after switching servers. I felt like a total burden. I never wanted their help, ie pity, and since I was always paranoid I'd wipe everyone, being so new, I never accepted any invites anywhere. With that being my only social gaming experience, I guess I'm a bit jaded. Maybe I'll give it another go with this game if I'm around long enough.

Ah, in the meantime, this is great idea, actually. Thanks!

Now, something like that would change my mind, I think. Sounds pretty awesome.

@Saluki: Thanks for that post. I guess I never really thought about that kind of stuff. Like I said, my only other online experience was pretty terrible. I think I'd be up for that, Especially this:

Maybe when I'm done with the main missions, I'll reconsider my stubborness and try this social thing out. Being a loner is tough habit to kick.

Quite welcome. Defiance probably has the lowest requirements to start a clan I've ever seen in an MMO. You dont even need another person!
