Ya they were careful how they worded it so it left the people THINKING that we were getting episodic content to go along with each episode. But they never actually said we would, they just led us down that trail and let us jump to conclusions.

From the Steam page for this game (emphasis mine):

Create a unique character and level up with diverse customization options. Hunt alone or with others as you improve your skills and unlock powerful modern and alien weapons that will help you survive the massive battles that await in this constantly evolving online world. Explore vast landscapes on a variety of vehicles and lead the charge in huge co-op battles and fierce multiplayer conflicts. Immerse yourself in the world of Defiance as the game impacts, and is impacted by, the Defiance TV series.
So far nothing is really evolving in this game's world and the game hasn't been impacted by the TV series at all yet. Yes there have only been two episodes of the TV show so far. However, the TV show has already moved half-way across the continent from the game world and the game has not moved with it.

You hit the nail on the head with the first part, we're only 2 episodes in, the show is still setting up a story to draw in viewers. There can't really be much game changing stuff there yet.

The game will not move to St. Louis. That has been stated. The game will be in the San Fransisco Bay and the show will be in St. Louis... for now.
When the game was being developed the devs of the game and producers of the show stated that there would be no direct interaction between the two but they are close enough that things that happen in one area will be known and affect the other.
(possible spoiler)The first episode missions were you helping Nolan get a piece of ark tech, in the end he screws you over and heads east (to St. Louis).
There are also files in the patch log that would lead one to believe that the former mayor of Defiance will be making an appearance in the game soon as well.

You know what Bush? You're actually 100% right about that.
I just went back and viewed most of all videos, Making of and Devs diaries made before launch, and found out that the word "Can" is widely and almost always used.

As an example: In The Making of Defiance Chapter 1: A Transmedia Revolution
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed7j3_xHxBw

    At 4:00 minutes they say:
"The lvl of control we "CAN" have over things like weather, that can dramatically affect the gameplay"

Although my friend...Here is when it gets VERY ugly...

4:50 "The real cross-over (From game to show-show to game) happens while the season is going, we planned that since the very beginning, your character leaving the game and go to the show and talk about what they did in the game"

5:14 "We'll be transitioning from the real world to the game world and back again!"

5:19 "The show and the game CONSTANTLY reinforced each other, and battles of the game
will change the outcome of the TV show, and events of the TV show are IMMEDIATLY reflected in the game"

Defiance - Developer Diary: What is a Shooter MMO?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3b0X4YPUAE

0:14 "Defiance IS a shooter 1st, and an MMO second!"

0:58 "As you are running in the world, NEW things are actually happening ALL THE TIME"

1:48 "We also have different vehicles (Video shows open world Arkfall and Roads on a CERBERUS) where you can have weapons on it, your personal shooter in the back, one has a missile launcher etc, to use as well as transport vehicles to use as RESOURCES GATHERING"

3:34 "Defiance is on PC, PS3 and X360 Massive event to allow all of these platforms to play
    simultaniously inside one MMO universe"

On a lot more vids also saying "New content will be implement 10 minutes after each TV episode" etc etc...

    Sooooooo...

To conclude, All of the above that has been said and promised?

THAT IS THE DEFIANCE WE WANT!

No time to ride the line!

And we will get that in due time. Just relax and be patient.

And thank you Fatal for the confirmation as regarding yet ANOTHER mmo, that was released not even half completed with huge promises juuuust for us to jump on the wagon, spend big bucks: (Over 400$ here so far by the way) and then giving us, an Alpha prototype to play with while waiting months for those companies to have time to work on it...

No time to ride the line!

Most likely in order to have any actual episode missions, well have to wait for another character to cross over from the show to the game so theres an episode tie in like when we had irisa and nolan. They left now and unless they are going to make missions based on another character in the game thats going to go to the show itll have to wait for the crossover and make due with pursuits for now.

And we got maybe what 12 goals to complete our pursuits for episode 1 and 2? 4 emergencies 4 data recorders, lighting the lanterns, pvp goals.
The initial pilots episode missions prologue were only 4 instances and werent as much as we got this time around. They just had some cinematics.

The 'your character' here could be a figure head, a selected character, etc. As the main missions are the same for everyone any character who shows up as 'The Bay Area Ark Hunter' is your character.

5:14 "We'll be transitioning from the real world to the game world and back again!"
Nolan and Irisa started in-game, and are now on the show. They will most likely come back as well.

5:19 "The show and the game CONSTANTLY reinforced each other, and battles of the game
will change the outcome of the TV show, and events of the TV show are IMMEDIATELY reflected in the game"
The show and game are constantly reinforcing each other, thus far they have done well in reflecting events from the show into the game.

    Agreed.

0:58 "As you are running in the world, NEW things are actually happening ALL THE TIME"
    They do.

1:48 "We also have different vehicles (Video shows open world Arkfall and Roads on a CERBERUS) where you can have weapons on it, your personal shooter in the back, one has a missile launcher etc, to use as well as transport vehicles to use as RESOURCES GATHERING"
    We do, and we might.

3:34 "Defiance is on PC, PS3 and X360 Massive event to allow all of these platforms to play
    simultaniously inside one MMO universe"
Sadly while this was the intent and plan most likely when this was filmed, this was done away with not of Trion's own choosing.

THAT IS THE DEFIANCE WE WANT!
And it's what you'll get, it's a work in progress constantly as it is an evolving story much like the show.

Umm i like your sarcastic reply but i don't blame you since what i did post is obvious to make a statement such as yours. While i do agree 100% the game isn't close to being finished. I'm use to this sorta stuff when it comes to MMOs. They never ever finish the game 100% cause to many elements behind the game can change on a dime depending on the game of course. Start off small, and evolve the game as the Days/Weeks and months pass. Defiance will get to that point in the coming months. While yes we all did pay are hard own cash for this stuff but that's just how MMO's go man sadly. Yet its already starting to happen with the devs already confirming tons of changes in the works that will help improve the very nature of the game in and of itself. This is why all these complaints don't bother me. I've been through way to many MMO in my time and while a lot have had there content up and ready to go with from day 1. There has been others I've been part off that started off extremely SLOW and then got better over the months. Defiance will be one of those MMO's.

$400 eh? I'm pushing about $515 here, but I'm not sweatin' or regretin' it.
