Thus far, the episodic content has been bait and switch. Trion presented us with an example of a tie-in mission with the preseason chain, heavily promoted it (look at the livestreams) and has yet to match its own standard of content they have established through that example.

Whether or not Defiance's tv show tie-ins are a bait and switch overall has yet to be determined. We won't really know until we give them more time to either redeem or hang themselves.

As we now know, that was bs.

Then when the retail release came with a laughable amount of content and all the bugs from the beta, they said the patch that comes with the series premiere would bring content and fixes that will make this a totally new game. As we now know, that also was bs.

Now two episodes in, the game is still a buggy mess with absolutely no meaningful series tie-in content in sight. Now they say people assumed and worthless pursuits should be enough. If the fanboys only understood how their delusional behavior hurts this game much more than it helps....
    Absolutely true.
I bought the collectors edition AND the Deluxe digital one after being in the Alpha and Beta tests, after high hopes, viewing the videos, listening to the streams, and reading the blogs...

So far, NYET... ZERO... NOTHING that i have seen or heard is even close to what Trion said this game was supposed to be.

-Innovative TV series interactive missions 10 minutes after each show aired: Not there
-Devs's weather system and dynamic events on the spot: Not there
-Constant add-ons and content every week: Not there
-The micro store pages of cosmetics, outfits and vehicles we had in beta: Removed for some obscure reasons so: Not there
-The ever changing storyline and episode missions after launch: Not there, and i know NOW that it will not happen until next year which will be season 2, BUT... We didn't know that mostly "before" we all bought the game.
-Size of the entire map (As stated in many videos) opened and huge: Not there, the actual map is the size of about one small region of Everquest 2 back then...(And i am generous)
    etc etc etc...

So far Defiance is what i will call, a good little online shooter. But That's it.
At least 75% of what was good promises about this game never happened.
The map is WAY too small, the storyline is the shortest i ever seen, and there is little to no rpg elements whatsoever in it not even talking about immersion.
There is no content left for you after less than a month, besides pvp and boring pursuits it becomes repetitive as hell extremely fast, and trust me...
Come back here in 1 or 2 weeks, and tell me that i was wrong... you wont.

For me Defiance is a TV show, a VERY good one, and i will watch it until the end.
But it is far from being the game i was told it would be at 1st.
I do not know what went wrong with this game, is it the devs, is it multiplatform deals? Bugs that cannot be fixed?
I don't know... But one thing is certain, this will soon be a game with a veeeeery very small community if nothing is done.

No time to ride the line!

Go take a look at the numerous trailers for defiance from about 6 months ago.

That Defiance actually looked fun and inventive.

    I want that Defiance.

I just went through an entire run of Explosions 101 with ridiculously glitched character movement. I'm not concerned with more missions being added.

    Fix the Core Game first.

    then add content.

EDIT - Also, no one in their right mind thought the gamers would extensively influence the show.
Actually considering the current lack of content in the game, I thought surely they were saving a lot for updates in between each episode. Guess I wasn't in my right mind - which I'm assuming is your mind

    AH!
I must be a total nut case then, as in: Not in my right mind at all!

Just noticed this on Defiance's Steam page:

"Create a unique character and level up...unlock powerful modern and alien weapons..."

I haven't really seen any of that.

    What depressing PR :P

What sorta episode missions are we looking at here. There is nothing in the first two episodes that can be linked back to San Francisco. Everything in the two episodes is all done and resolved in St Louis. So there isn't anything outside from next week's episode with the hellbugs that would come back to us in the game and open up a new episode mission. What we got as content or lack off is what i like to call Mini Content. Sure most people here will disagree with me on this and i understand why of course but i like to look at it as mini content. Yet that does play a mini share cross over with the TV show. After all, they did celebrate that festival in the first episode. We in the game are just honoring that. Plus with them adding new Emergencies. That's is still new content for us to do. We haven't seen those emergencies yet at all until they did that server restart last Monday. So yeah when a MAJOR EVENT in the show happens that will effect us in the game, then we will see our next Episode Mission. I smell a plague coming soon. That will be our second or third episode mission.
