Lost Girl and "Being Human".. both routinely hit in the low to mid 2's per week.. and both where just picked up for a FOURTH season (something that SyFy isn't known for doing). So.. perhaps someone at SyFy is understanding the juggernaut their facing in WWE's RAW in that time slot, and going "Hey.. We took a bite and got Mid-2's.. that's pretty damn good!"

Now.. if they moved to Thursdays.. they'd be competing with Greys Anatomy as well as TNA.. and that's ALMOST as bad as facing off with RAW. Perhaps if they moved it to Wednesday, where it's all reality crap shows that are going down the crapper, it'd get some really stellar reviews
Raw averages around 1.50 in the ratings. Although that number does go up and down based upon what's going on. The Rock coming back got them 2.50's for his showings.

TNA does garbage as far as ratings go, if I remember correctly. They pull sub 1's, although I haven't checked recently.

Being Human and Lost Girl's budget doesn't even come close to that of Defiance. As stated by SYFY itself it is their most expensive show yet. So nope it is not going to survive on the same ratings as these two shows. it needs to do better much better or it will be canned.

Financially world is going in gutter, i doubt SYFY will be willing to just dump their money into a pit. Average isn't goo enough for TV these especially with such an expensive budget.

They won't do Wednesday's cause that's when Ghost Hunters is on (another popular show for them).

So may I ask what television shows you watch which are well written and has tremendous acting?

I love a lot of the references in the show, and the fun they poke and real life situations, it's just unfortunately too many people aren't smart enough to pick up on it.
I actually posted many examples of shows I like. since you didn't take the time to read it before so cleverly insulting me 8P, I'm happy to mention them again. I think homeland is probably the best written show on tv, plus amazing performances by mandy patinken and claire daines. I love game of thrones, the wire was great, boardwalk empire, jerseyliscious 8P . compare these shows to defiance. and tell me it's on the same level.

YEA, love it or leave it... hahaha... I don't like the show, doesn't mean I don't like the video game. pretty sure they were designed to be stand alone for this exact reason. : /

I've quite liked the show so far (altho it certainly isn't stellar or anything). My main issue, like a lot of shows theses days, seems to be with the pacing. Everything zips along so quickly. Like the reveal with the ex-mayor at the end of the first episode. I mean, they could have kept that as the 'unknown' individual for at least a couple episodes. Same thing with Irisa's character; seems like they are pushing a lot of developments a little too quick, and it shows. If you want to drive home a trait, or a plot point, or the like, you can't just present and then explain it away all in the same episode. You need some time to let it sit and percolate in the viewer's head a while.

its no firefly or star trek that's for sure .... in every good show people need to like the characters that are in it whether because there plot engines or they are intriguing good or bad every character needs to be liked.

In defiance for the most part i feel as if i am joining a game of role players that have been at it for years and no one is explaining to me why the hell Irisa has a large stick up her ***

I know not ever one of my friends liked Sylar from heroes, an I gave it time for his character to develop an I liked this character even befor i found out that it was his power that made him dangerous an even more after, but Irisa .... i just want to shoot her in the face her every action, statement and personality seem to be out of place for having been raised by some one like Noland who is firm but easy going. Even the other Irathient seem to have more copasetic personality

That's to be expected from the 2nd episode of like... any new show. Though it's still higher than most of the stuff on SyFy.
Its a shame they only use live tv primetime for ratings, what about the ppl who are just to busy to watch at the exact moment it airs or work nights and still watch later. Ill bet you could double those ratings with everyone that watches the show off of on demand from thier cable providers
