That's my biggest concern. It's too much like what we've already seen and voted as not enough.

Instead of using the logic of knowing the Snake skinned alien as you put was part of a much larger conspiracy attempting to wipe out the place you live in. So the trail goes cold when he dies. Meaning unless you keep him alive, and get him to talk, the people plotting to kill the rest of your family and the entire town are still out there, still plotting, and eventually will unleash more havoc.
Hey Clown - Since we are being so straight forward and judgmental, let's just call a spade a spade here. The show is a B class mish-mosh of other TV shows. I like the game but I'm not going to over-romanticize the TV show. This weeks show was cheesy and 100% predictable.

Good Guy sheriff saves the day
Bad guy henchman dies and takes the key info to finding the main bad guy with him
Girl with new found law power lets personal feelings dictate what's right and wrong
Tortured guy ends up dead anyway.

All of these things could have and were foreshadowed about 5 minutes into the show. Not a single curve ball.

Yes it is an attention span thing. If something doesn't keep my attention, I am bored. Just like every other species on earth. Don't act like you were riveted by this weeks show. I personally feel like I gain nothing as far as back story or where the show is trying to go other than trying to figure out who is behind the plot to destroy Defiance. The dumb part is that the show already gave us that so now we just sit ad see how long it takes the mayor and sheriff to figure it out. Common sense should give them a huge clue since the old mayors assistant was in on the attack and during the defense of Defiance the old mayor was unaccounted for (to the viewers at least). Why would nobody put 2 and 2 together and say, "maybe we should ask the old mayor if she knows anything"

The average Human attention span is 12 seconds. This means that if somebodies personal likes are not met or they are not intrigued within 12 second bursts, the show is now backgound sound while folding laundry or playing on a laptop or tablet. It is a built in function of humans. It's how we are able to multitask and prioritize. In the sense of something that is a choice, I don't think it's a bad thing to need to be entertained to keep my attention. Your argument is that your superior to us because you have a much longer attention span? I think it's sad that the show requires super attention powers to sit through the entire show and be entertained when there is nothing entertaining about it.

Syfy knows these things. This is why they previewed next weeks episode with action shots and not blah dialog. I'm never watching the show again if I have to sit through even 10 seconds of singing. Defiance - leave the singing to Glee.

compensating for much? XD Shows great. Games great. Sorry to all of you who are crying about SyFy not holding your man parts for you....points for using big words like foreshadowing though. Just wish you had a clue what it means.

    For the TV series,
it is for most either that you like it, or you don't, there is not a lot space for in betweens here.
I do love the TV show so far, it is a great one.

As for the game being great, not at all. The "concept" of the game is amazing and what this game should be looks truly great.
But it has been released in an Alpha state, and not at all in the state it should have been at launch.
So for me, the game "has the potential" to become a great one.

No time to ride the line!

Really? We're supposed to assume that there will never be new characters added? We're supposed to assume that the only people who will ever be involved in any kind of plot were those shown in the pilot episode.

"Hey, the old mayor is the only person in the world that's not here... suspicious."

I don't think you're quite as clever as you like to think.

Also, the 12 second time span only applies if you're going for instant-gratification, eye candy. Other people... perhaps more mature than yourself, can also be captivated by story development, character interaction and dialogue.

Maybe Defiance isn't your cup of tea. Have you checked out Spongebob Squarepants? That might be more your speed.

I do agree the game has its flaws. But as you said the concept is amazing. The execution isnt too far behind though. This is the first MMO of its kind after all. I personally am still having loads of fun with the game and im done with everything but the pursuits. The elusive "good loot" has me coming back every time i have a chance. But Lots of people are acting like they should have been personally consulted about everything this show/game has to offer. The fact remains that this is a HUGE project. Not one of these entitled, callow, cry babies could have done a better job.

Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

Show is not really that good all in all.

Lots of plot holes, acting is kinda poor, effects are cheap, and the story is quite predictable.

I keep hearing references to Firefly when describing Defiance but to me: Firefly was 10x better imo.
