I give up. I can't defeat Jackleg Joe. It's not possible.

I give up. I've tried so many times to defeat this motherf... I have tried with two different characters. I've focused entirely on getting better shields and better weapons right from the start with my second character, just so I could be prepared for this fight. I went here with a purple shield, purple assault rifle (rank 4) and an orange shotgun (rank 3) that needs two shots to kill a 99er, and it's one of those rapid-fire shotguns. But I can't do it. The fight is impossible. Maybe it's bugged on my side, but it's not possible to do it. And here's why.

The only places you can hide are behind a few tanks, or whatever they are. Except the enemies swarm into the room from both sides, so there are nowhere to hide. Once the shield is gone (after one shot...), you can only run around in a circle and hope you won't get hit until it recovers again. But trust me, that won't happen. You *will* die. The enemies need one shot to kill you. Two if you're very lucky. Too bad there are never any less than four of them shooting at you at all times - and they *never* miss. Oh, sure, I can fight back if I want to. I can even kill every enemy on one side of the room with ease. But what's the point? By the time I'm done with those (after three seconds), I'm already shot a couple of times by the enemies on the other side of the room. And if I by some miracle manage to kill all the enemies on one side and run away before I get shot again, I'm hit by a couple of grenades after three seconds anyway. Part because there's nowhere to hide, and part because the room is so small, you can easily throw a grenade all the way to the other side anyway.

So that's about it. I've tried more than twenty times on my first character, then made a new character especially for this fight, and after ten times in a row, I can't do it. It's simply not possible. Congrats to you who have done it, and I hope you enjoy the game a lot for a long time. As for me, I really regret buying my third copy. I'll probably be back if they ever put in a "so easy even grandma can do it"-mode, but until then, I guess I'll go read a book or something. Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted.

Edit: Oh, and just for the record, I never had any issues at all with either character until now. In fact, it's almost too easy. Even going down to this fight was easy enough. And dungeons? I've breezed through plenty on my first char, getting headshot after headshot with my sniper rifle. But this fight? I can't do it.

Load a pyro grenade makes this fight easier, as you do not need to hit the little guys on the back, just use the grenade. Also the normal mobs, when they are on fire, they panic and do not shot back making it easier to kill them also.

Unload your shotgun and load in a BMG instead to heal yourself when needed. Kill with the assault rifle. If you can get an assault rifle with the 'stun\lighting' nano effect, this fight becomes easier again, as most mobs will not be fighting back. But even an fire nano effect assault rifle will help alot too

This fight was rather easy for me. I used cloak and the gladiator rifle you get in...the episode mission? Besides..cloak..go around..pop the tank.Rinse repeat till Joe jumps down. Then I pulled out my cluster shotgun..the one that fires grenades..strafted and fired till dead

I had a bit of an issue with the Smelters but once I figured it out there really was no big issue, concentrate on them the other guys will fire at the NPC who shots back. if you miss one just kite him until your ego power (i used cloak) is up cloak and get behind then one smack and he goes running to boss, boss loses shield shot boss. rince and repeat

Nothing I have tried works. Pyro grenade? I gave up on them a long time ago. I might set one or two enemies on fire if I'm lucky, but it doesn't matter when there are so many of them. Plus, the biggest issues are that it takes one or two shots to kill me, and when I die, I need to do the entire fight all over again from the beginning. I've reached the second stage twice with my first character, and that was pure luck. So how am I supposed to get Joe to jump down? And then kill him, on top of it? All wihtout getting hit a single time? I do appreciate that you are trying to help me, but honestly, I guess I'm just hoping it can somehow get a lot easier. The problem is I already tried asking that once, and it... let's just say didn't go so well.

Is it possible to get someone to help me? If they ever decide to fix the chat system, I could try to recruit someone to help me, perhaps.

He was a sheer pain in the butt. Dun care what anyone says. Harder than Nim. I got some health/defense going, and thought "hey, I'm ready! Lets DO THIS!" 10-15 tries later I finally beat him.

Northstar Pistol (inherently fire element, excellent damage, and explosive), pyro weapons in general, BMG, cloak, these things will help. Pretty sure the north star pistol is what really saved my butt.

BMGs are just generally handy. They do decent damage, and heal, of course.

If you have cloak, it's easy.

How do you use the BMG anyway? I don't have a clue what they are used for, or if they are weapons at all. Btw I think I have the Northstar Pistol (the flare gun?), so I guess I could give it a shot. I've already tried 30+ times, so one more won't hurt.

And no, my first char is a sniper with maxed out cloak, but it's *not* easy when you suck as much as me.

Lol. I used bionades to set off the smelters backpack. As soon as they ran under Joe and blew up, I was behind a crate to the right (closest to your NPC teammate), and sniped Joe in the head. After a couple times of doing this, he came down to my level and I just shot the hell out of him. Every time I got aggro, I cloaked.

pfff..... did that with pistol and AR easy fight just pop the headshots for 99'niners and hit the back of smelters, then shoot Joe

Use BMG to self heal! not to dmg anything!
Just stick close to creates at the Left side! at first don't even give a dam* about Joe until you have cleared the area from enemies. And you can control the apparel of new one.
If smelter burns you do a double roll, to put out flames.

the weapon of choice doesn't matter, but if you havin hard times, BMG's is a must for you!
