I give up. I can't defeat Jackleg Joe. It's not possible.

I had a similar problem... if accidently found out that if you shoot the Flammer Mutants back tanks and set them on fire they always run into the Flame beneath Jackleg and explode dropping his shield for awhile thats when you attack. Headshots do more damage if you can do it... Bad thing there is a limit on a number od Flammers that appear so try not to kill them outright if possible.

What is funny is this boss wasn't that hard for me but NIM was a total nightmare. My strat was to stay behind the cover and shoot the little guys in the back as they came out then shoot the boss then back behind cover again. I kept that going as best I could until I got him down. The main thing is make sure to shoot the tanks on the little guys backs. Once they catch fire they run back to the boss and he drops his shield so you can damage him at that point.

Before today, I went in with an AR and a rocket launcher. My main problem in those fights is that I fired at just about every 99er in the room and took the aggro. That was a recipe for disaster!

This morning, I went in with a FRC SAW, a BMG, and some pyro-grenades after reading this thread. After I started the boss fight, I hid behind the tank in the near-left corner and let Rosa take the ones on the right side of the room. After picking off the ones on the left, I helped finish off the ones on the right. Once the flamers started coming out, I stayed behind the tank and didn't shoot at the other 99ers. Once the flamer came around the corner, I hit him with melee and hip-shot the tank on his back. While the flamer ran for the boss, I got the corner of the tank and aimed at Joe, firing as many shots as I could until the shields came up. Once Joe came down, I ran around the perimeter of the room and hip-shot him with the SAW, only using my grenade once when Rosa took aggro and led him into the back-right corner.

I was losing hope, until I read the tips in this thread. Don't give up! It can be done!

WTG! Yes it can be done even if you're not a hotshot FPS gamer. Its a frustrating mess if you come from an MMORPG Rift/WoW type gaming experience. I'm lame at FPS and I got through twice now. I let most of the 99 mobs aggro Rosa, ran between the 2 cover spots, had a grenade shotgun and assault rifle set up. Used cloak and made sure to have a shield with a quick recharge time. Died twice due to gaining too much aggro from mobs but eventually shot enough of the little pyros to get him to drop down from his perch. Used the tar grenade to slow other 99ers down.

Cloak is great for getting your shield back and then all the aggro goes to Rosa also.

That guy was one mean shtako, for sure. I lost count of how many times he got me, and that was just when I was trying to get the little guys to blow up his shield. I lucked out when he jumped down, however. Turns out, blur + my own grenade launcher = epic grenade launcher duel


After reading some of these other posts, though, not looking forward to Nim...

He was impossible for me until I figured out what was going on. I used either a SMG or LMG, basically anything medium range high damage. Hide behind the tanks and don't attack enemies unless they are coming around the corner, then just blast them down. I believe the girl helps keep them off of you or something (seemed like only half of them were interested in me).

When the flame guys come around the corner and get in your face, give them a whack before they can shoot flames then run behind and put a bullet in their tank. They'll run off and explode and you can keep cover and just load bullets at him. It was a piece of cake once I got that down.
