    Your thoughts on... Rocket launchers

What are the ones you find uselful and why ?
Suggestions on improving them for pve purpose without making them omg op for pvp ?

    My turn :

Those which works for me are :

Sludge : 800 dmg large poop AoE friendly fire... friendly, works like a grenade but with 15 actual consecutive shots and the grenade mod of your choice. Since i discovered them never used a bioblast grenade again. Used it for Nim btw, found it extra useful in first 2 sections (died only once in section 2, tried 2 times in section 3 and kept on with my HP 5 only for the winning round). watch your step though, you don't want to dirty your brand new outfit, don't you ?

Bonfire : same thing here, never used a pyroblast grenade again (i wonder if the 105 tick fire damage count for wpn xp, my bet is it doesn't). Like the sludge having a bmg in switch satisfy my support needs in group. And yes the fire DoT do stack with the one from a pyroblast grenade, just so you know...

Guided launcher : ONE actual reason to use it => Motherlode shoulder spuds phase, works great. Anything else utter garbage.

Swarm : Large low dmg AoE. Only use is against large groups of scitterlings (angel island come to mind) and small scrappers (scrapwork salvage last areas) if only for the huge multi kill lol factor. Otherwise garbage.

    Those which doesn't :

Errrr all the others. You deal way more dmg way faster with anything else (yes even a VOT disruptor) but that you already knew... As a side note never found a "cluster rain" one, so can't comment.

    Suggestions :

Seems to me that one way to improve them is give them (better ?)crit multiplier : If one can't doge a rocket coming right into one's head in pvp, well too bad and the shooter should be rewarded. yes improving them even a bit will mean even more bunny hopping, like say UT. It's old school pvp, deal with it
I think weapon tweaking for balance should be done with crit multiplier adjustments, not raw dmg... But hey, that's just me

My two arkall salvages, your turn

    peace

    They suck.

Well they probably don't i just can't seem to get along with them. I guess the bonfire one may come in handy online, just block of corridors and watch cloak newbs set themselves on fire lol.

Im more of a ground pounder guy.

    Thats my 2 script.

Once you've compared the DPS of all rocket launchers and other weapons there's only one conclusion ... Mass Cannon yes, rest no ... and that one piece can't gain EXP so if you want to level your launcher skill you'll have to take the second best, which would be swarm cannon with everything else sharing a 3rd place that's somewhere between only using melee attacks and VBI LMG.

    /edit:
Just realised that this is one single sentence. I'm amazing. O____o

Everyone knows they are obvious subpar weapons of course.
Point of the thread is have you found a constructive mean not so obvious of using them

btw i know the bonfire description states it makes a lasting napalm AoE zone, but atm (either bug or redesign) it doesn't. Just like incinerator detonator actually... really wish it does :/

Guided Launcher is really good in Shadow War, it can lock-on further than you can even see.

    I hope I don't regret saying that later. :O

    yes you are, kuddos !

As a side note to OP, i don't think they are sp weapons at all but in group it can be fun/somewhat useful to use.
Optimal choice, no (and that's good) but frankly do you really need to go all optimal power gamer choice on this one to overcome the ennemies of the game (obvioulsy speaking of pve, of course pvp is all about optimal choices to give you an edge) ?

They don't really feel like rocket launchers to me, just glorified grenade launchers. Swarm is about the only one with decent AOE, and still needs a good second weapon to assist.

That said some of the perks around Overcharge work well with them. Explosive damage buff plus lowered nade charge is fun.

I recently acquired a Rebound Cannon, and I lurves it.

Guided Launchers are shtako. well, pretty much any Launcher that only has one total projectile. Guided, Longshots, and Rocket Pods all suck.
