I have to disagree with you. The point of being cloaked is to not be seen (visually) by another player. If we are calling the minimap "radar" (which I do), it works off the principle of reflected EM waves. To not register with that, one would have to cease to exist or cloak would also distort this feedback as well. Maybe cloak could not totally remove a player from the radar due to this alleged distortion but limit the visibility.
Of course with all the players that are visible looking exactly the same (no distiction between red/blue teams on screen) I end up shooting at anything that moves anyway.![]()
I dont have a problem with cloak and shotgun being used, but they do need to be nerfed.
Cut down on the cloak time make them shorter and also the reach on shotguns are long as the assualt rifles.
Beside that they are other ways to hand this just need to keep playing it.
What I actually find a pain right now (that won't be changed) is being dropped into the actual game world during a match. Pllayed a Dom match recently but the area was covered in 99'ers.
The cloak and shotty thing in PvP is what is called a first order operational (FOO) strategy. It's kind of like the Thousand Hand Slap in Street Fighter. If you spam the move enough and keep the right distance, you win. However, it was easy to counter this move by zoning.
That's what you need to figure out. How to counter the FOO strategy. Yes, it is generally a good rule of design to not build FOO strategies into a game, and Trion dropped the ball. But demanding that they take something out of the game just so you can enjoy it more is nonsense.
I would just like a "hardcore" or "classic" playlist. keep weapons and perks, no ego powers. Then all the cloakers can still have their fun and maybe I could start.
As a side note, I do love watching all the cloakers shotgunning eachother in an endless chain over points in Shadow Wars. Its also really fun to watch as people try to kill me (I kind of look like an echelon merc) only to get cloak+shotgunned. Can't wait until I can unlock the echelon gear for coop.
...or just do what I did: stop messing with this game's busted-*** PvP.
The PvP in this game is pretty much garbage. But that's what I have Gears of War 3 for when I want to shoot other players to death. But, in all seriousness, there's little to no reason to bother with PvP in this game. I lost interest once someone informed me that the outfits you unlock for PvP can't be worn in PvE.
