Certainly any changes to AI accuracy must follow an update to the overall quality of the AI. The current system is most troublesome with previously mentioned issues such as grenades or smgs from a long way away.

Somewhat linked to this in an inability to hide from the AI. The other night i was fighting some of those scrapper groups with the little guys backed up with one big guy. I use cloak and a sniper rife with an lmg alt weapon. I was fighting the mobs then i cloaked (the mobs stayed around where id dissapeared) and moved away behind a rock totally out of sight of the mobs. As soon as i dropped cloak the mobs came running towards me. They knew exactly where i was even though id entered cover without them being able to see me.
a great example of what i think many here are trying to explain in this topic of the game!!!! ill refer back to Borderlands2 their AI is alot sharper TRION should take note. if they want that sort of playerbase!

and all the ruble theres around one cant even use as decoy-they just shoot right through it dark matter are notorious for this. just dosent feel 'right' as a shooter. thank goodness for my legendaries-on my alt who has no legendaries yet is horrible play.

I dont die that much in this game, but I think that the challenge for this games comes from just how fast can you finish off hellbugs, Its not about not dying
Some people say "winning isn't everything." I say "Then why are you here?"

borderlands 2 doesnt have to process a lot of AI and players at once. And Dark Matter does not shoot through Decoy, they kill the Decoy incredibly fast, maybe you shouldnt stand behind it.

Just realized, there is one thing I really don't like about the AI in combination of how they balanced mob stats:
    Mongrels & Skitterlings.
Both move somewhat erraticly, attack infrequently with little to no effect and die as soon as you look at them ... they mostly die in explosions aimed at the other mobs by accident.
Makes the Scrapper and Hellbug mob groups overall a bit weak, since their basic units are so ineffective and you only have to worry about the rest.
It's like gunning for the Raider Tanker first while ignoring all the little guys.

Decoy needs more health, but this and the general usefulness of Blur are really no AI issues.

I never took Borderlands mobs for very clever, I get flanked in Defiance more often and mobs take a higher priority in running for cover. But they're two different games with two vastly different skill and weapon options, so difference in gameplay mechanics (such as AI) is not only plausible, it's simply implied.

I'm not having a problem with combat in this game. It's pretty easy. Hide behind cover to refill your shields, get a quick recharge one. Don't just stand still in the open, this isn't like WoW. You have to have fast reflexes and you have to move. The best way to not have a problem with enemy accuracy is SHOOT THEM FIRST. I don't care how accurate the AI is if I'm faster than them and can put a bullet in their head before they can fire their shot.

rofl, there is a valid point to what OP says, if you try and notice every mob that hits you and where they hit you from lol

You can run Very far away and still get hurt by a grenade caster from enemys/npc and your rockets or snipers cant even hurt them..

You can even hide behind a little shack/house and still get hit by a random mob

Just a little Nerf wouldnt hurt.

Like others have said, use cover. I like how easy the mobs can hit me in the open. I enjoy the challenge to snipe them from a distance with Snipers and ARs and then run up towards the next group.

My big problem with the combat system is the super fast re-spawn rates and massive aggro range of the enemy mobs. I will kill a group and move forward to engage another. Before the second group is dead I've got enemies popping behind me and nailing me in the back. The aggro range is also a problem sometimes. In some locations you can have 3 or 4 separate groups all running and shooting at you, and they're all triggered from the first enemy group you attack.

My only issue with the AI's accuracy, is that visually, it looks like they're spraying bullets everywhere and have no chance to hit you, yet they hit literally every shot and drain your shield.

If they atleast changed the visual so i could see that they are hitting me, that would be nice.

It's not really the nominal difficulty. There are numerous games which are difficult, whereas the difficulty originates from understandable parameters. However, this does not apply to defiance.

It's more because every player learns very fast that the AI does not at all play by the same rules. They don't have to reload, have infinite ammunition, can spam ****loads of explosives, can see the player no matter how far he is or behind wich cover he hides, have aimbot accuracy no matter which weapon is used. Counter measures like the ego powers don't help much; the decoy dies too quickly and the cloak... Well let's say you can't really rely on it. The only exception being initiation of a battle where there is a brief time the enemy doesn't necessarily spot you at once. On the other hand, player weapons don't have the same attributes at all. Projectile weapons aren't that accurate and explosives don't apply the same damage. Oh well, maybe it's because the AI doesn't use scope mods...

To sum it up: The player feels ****ed. It is this the very reason why modern games tried all to overcome this legacy of the old age of arcade games. And indeed there are numerous games which apply a hard difficulty setting whilst keeping the game still fair. That can be frustrating as well, but on a completely different scale.

However, this has one good side: With every day defiance one realizes what a great game Borderlands actually is. I really regret buying the season pass that early.
