Is Snap Aim the new standard?

I get on consoles it is harder to aim, but Snap Aim really makes shooters boring, and eliminates any kind of competitve play.
I like the potential this game has, but snap aim makes it way too easy.

Any chance of this being removed or it's efficiency being lowered?

    Playing on Ps3.

Out of curiosity, what is your weapon skill level? I only ask because I'm wondering if a higher skill level improves the Snap Aim effect. From what I've noticed, it is limited. When there are a small number of enemies, I have seen it go to the closest - as long as you are not moving - but you have to manually maintain your aim. If you are moving during a firefight, I have seen no Snap Aim at all. Maybe it also has to do with what weapon you are using. Different weapons have significantly different aiming reticles, so that may also play some into it. I think some form of it is a necessary evil for consoles, since we don't share the free movement of a mouse pointer. But I do agree, that it shouldn't be an auto-lock function. That would slightly cheapen the thrill of the fight. And lead to a lot of bouncy-house shootouts.

I played for about an hour or so level 0/1?
I was using the assault class. The machine gun.
If you think it isn't that easy try jumping and snapping, alternating L1 and R1.
It always snaps on for headshots.

Not sure what to tell you, I haven't noticed it. I've use the handgun as a Survivalist, and the light machine guns as a Machinist. Maybe playing as the Veteran class gives you easier aiming. I'll have to try that out.

OP is right and i completely agree. The snap aim NEEDS to be nerfed imo.
You tap aim down sight while looking in the direction of an enemy and you land headshots/criticals. They said it would be skill based shooting? It involves me aiming none so ever. To me its a little ridiculous. So all ive done is tap L1/R1 spam and baddies go down relativly fast lol It shouldnt be like that. Also on certain enemies that snap aim is kind of annoying when your trying to aim for certain spots to take them down.

Its a problem on PC too. if you even have a controller installed it cause auto/snap aim (even if using a mouse)

Removes all skill and is very frustrating to fps/tps fans who have their own way of playing etc

    Really?
I must be a REALLY terrible shot then.
Because if there is any snap-aim of any kind, it ain't working for me at all for any weapon under any circumstances, and I can't even hit thing point-blank.
My experience is that the "aiming" and impact system is pretty bad and only hard-core "mom's basement" shooter-gamers can even play this thing at all and mostly on PC - console is much worse.
    Just my opinion.

For me the sticky targeting always goes to the body mass, never the head. And then if the mob moves after the initial stick it does not retain the target lock automatically.

I have not noticed any type of snap for my target system. Infact I have to take my time and actually aim and watch our for when they move/duck.
