Keycodes are sort of currency you need to have to purchase lockboxes, which in turn award you with random loot, but the only available method to get higher grade equipment.

Keycodes can be "farmed" on following:
    • Co-op missions (instances) 5 keycodes
    • Major Arkfalls, 3-5 keycodes.
    • PvP rewards
    • Recycling your Ark Salvage into keycodes (1k salvage per 1 keycode)

You can also get keycodes from doing the repeatable main missions, they give 2.

Farming in a game setting essentially means that you're doing activities for the sole primary purpose of getting a specific item (in this case, keycodes). You might be getting other benefits (weapon and EGO xp, scrip, salvage) that that's not that particular farmer's goal.

It means that you plant a key code seed. Every couple of days, you water it. Eventually it will sprout 3-5 keys.

Mine 99 and all those repeatable area objectives give 1-3 codes usually.
