The higher you go the weaker they are

get a heavy carb .... toss that Blast rifle ... don't just use one weapon simply because you like it that's silly talk ..... sorry
I wish that you could find a type of AR that you like and its DPS-AMMO usage was all pretty equal in the AR group but sadly not my heavy carbine dose 476 damage 30 rounds as a single shot, the blast rifles have 40 damage and 45-60 rounds that damage to ammo ratio dosnt play out no matter what sense the crit an acc are so close
I was wondering about that. When I started the game the Average AR I found had a min dam of 200 (semi, burst, or full-auto), but now all I can find at the venders are these weak @$$ Blast Rifles (min dam of 40). If I use one of those I end up running out of ammo long before I run out of enemies to shoot with it, especially in an Ark-fall. I just knew that once I got to San-Fran that I would find more powerful weapons . . . boy was I wrong. Don't get me wrong I'm kicking @$$ and not bothering to take names, but it makes no since why somebody that started 5 minutes ago can use a gun just as, or more so, powerful then somebody that’s been playing since launch. I get the synergy thing, but no amount of bonuses can make up for that level of power loss.
When you consider that some guns requiring a min EGO level to use this make even less since. I have three SAWs in my inventory that all have the same stats but each requires a different EGO level to use. Hell, the one I got from the vendor doesn’t even have any requirements! I know this is a FPS (Third Person Shooter?) and that an enemy of a particular type is the same stat wise no matter where you are (excluding Co-Ops, and Instances where they can be boosted or nurfed), but something about this feels a little unbalanced. Not sure how to fix it without making things harder for those playing a new/low level EGO characters or making it super easy for higher level characters . . . a NPC level system like in Borderlands would, in my opinion, ruin the feel of the game. Options? Opinions?

I don't think any enemy is too hard on its own. However, some of them can be overwhelming when you're facing more than one of them.

Using the Goldrush 99'er mentioned earlier, the elite version have a face mask that makes shooting them in the face ineffectual. The final stage of the "Wrong Turn" dynamic event pops out two of them that come at you in tandem. They often kill me when I try to engage them at range, as the focus fire of the pair, far outstrips the damage I can put out on my own. Of course this is only really an issue when you're alone. If a passerby stops to pull one of them off you, they are no trouble at all.

I find the game very well balanced for play by 2 or 3 people. Unfortunately, as large scale events don't have that great a scaling system, arkfall events become relatively mindless as 15-25 people just swarm over a single objective.

Game is based on PLAYER skill, not character skill. So RAISE your skill.
Learn to stay far and headshot with a sniper rifle, use the environment to take cover, use blur+shotgun to kill enemies in melee range, learn to avoid shots, understand the mobs attacks and how to avoid them, always be in movement, use the decoy power to distract mobs, ....
The biggest problem in computers, and in MMOs: PEBKAC

I use sniper rifle and shotty with a few stealth perks to help my cloak along. I just started dealing with the 99ers and I'm not really seeing where all this trouble is comming from. Perhaps certain players are trying to spray & pray their way thru this whole thing and are finding out that crap don't work now?

I am having lil' to no problem locating a skull balloon and popping said balloon to bloody fragments b4 they get close enough to pose a problem. And if they do I got my auto-shotty and nades to help clear the air. I guess when you create a class of MMO player that relies too much on gear and is suddenly handed a game that relies on skill, well... heh. Sucks to be them I guess.

    Weak weapons?
Are we playing the same game?

Try a sniper rifle (bolter), high fire rate, high damage (in case you got fast aim and are a good quickscoper).
Add a FRC SAW or VOT Fragger and you're good to go.
In case you dare to call your aiming good pistols are the way to go.

Run the scrapworks mission to check your damage.
Depending on the following table you can find out if either you need improvement, or if it really are the weapons that are weak.

In case you got 600k or less damage your aiming definitely needs improvement.
In case you got 800k you still are a weak player.
In case you got 1mio you're average
In case you got 1,4 you're slightly above average
In case you got 1,75 to 1,85 mio you're a good player
In case you got more than 1,9 you should definitely turn your hacks off, it's getting obvious.

    In case you find yourself in the good player section;
That's Defiance, enemies might take a few hits.
    In case you find yourself below;
Improve your play and enemies will go down much faster, you're the problem.

The game is defiantly based on a player's skill and not a character's skill.

I find most of the missions that I do a little on the easy side. Granted, some are difficult, but mostly I find that the difficult missions are the ones that I start carelessly fighting. I think it would be nice if the AI could be boosted to take advantage of crates or other environmental advantages, such as, hiding behind a wall, which sometimes they do, but, I never see them crouch behind a box while maintaining fire on me. That would be nice.

Try hitting raiders with CS-X cluster shots.
Or a dozen SAW rounds from 20 feet.
They bounce around a lot, then straighten up and nail you with every shot if you stand still.

I'm currently using an AR style rifle (base dam 300+) and a LMG (base dam 400+) and I have no problem with the 99ers or anyone else for that matter. I use cover, check my mini-map for flankers, expose myself to only one or two enemies at a time, and cloak out when needed (reload in open area or to flank). I use my grenades (frags) on groups, shield carriers, or when I can’t get a good line of sight on my target.

Here’s a tip for all those taking the fight to the enemy; this is a T.P.S. (you're looking over your right shoulder). When you're fighting a Tanker make use of cover, staying back a few feet so as not to get hit by slash dam. Go to the right side of your cover and, if done right, he can't hit you but you can hit him. This works on all baddies accept the ones with grenade launchers. If the enemy get to you before you can take him out, MOVE!

    Rinse, Lather, Repeat.

I've killed enough raiders with my SAW to be sure that they're anything but a problem O.o

    Nade Launchers?
Those are mainly AoE weapons for scrappers and hellbugs, not really the tool to fight raiders (still their blast radius and damage is immense).
P.S. How can you not hit your target with a Clustshot? O.o
That weapon is such an incredible aoe-damage-spammer...
P.S.II if you don't hit them from 20 meters - get closer! (dodgeroll aaalllllllllll the way)

You've got to adapt to your enemies, rock >paper >scissors.
Try an SMG if they jump out of your scope (or simply 1 shot the with a sniper rifle )

    TL;DR:
You don't take a knive to a gunfight. So don't snipe with grenade launchers. Adapt to your enemies and they won't be a problem.

only mobs i saw use cover an fire over are Dark Matter. I see no prob killing anything in Defiance, as far as wep dmg goes each has it's own max lethal range. The Blast Rifle is an assult, but it's range is more like a SMG. Just find a weps lethal range an your foe will fall no matter what or who it was.
