I just started my second play through and noticed instead of saying like before what you would get it as a reward it now says a random item, also in doing only four missions i have obtained a purple and three blue weapons, making a second play through a lot more of a viable way of obtaining better weapons i.e with synergies and bonuses as opposed to opening lock boxes, but and im not holding much hope, but does anyone know if this random loot can contain legendarys as well ?, i also just found out after 100 odd hours playing fully experienced weapons grant a random boost lol, who knew :L.

Legendaries can come from anything that drops items (except for mod boxes). Though not confirmed I wouldn't be surprised if these quests have a small chance to reward them.

The odds are exceedingly rare outside of lockboxes, but it's true.
