I guess we will see in 4 or so months time. >.<

Also, what is going to happen between series? Is the MMO story going to grind to a halt 'cause they ended on a cliffhanger episode or something?

The way I understand it, season 1 there will be no game influence to the show. But the interim between season 1 finale and season 2 premiere, the events that unfold in the game CAN influence some key parts of the series (think alternate endings on dvd director's cut bonus content).

As for the multiple servers, it was already explained how that will likely work. That each server can be explained as a differant "outfit" in the SF/bay area. in the event of a major invasion defense scenario. If there are a total of 15 servers (5 for each platform), and 12 servers successfully beat back the invasion, while 3 failed, the outcome in the show is a very good success, or if only 3 servers win, then it was a VERY hard fight, a win that cost us dearly. If NO server wins, then well, we should all find a differant game to play, lol

The two take place in totally different locations, so I think you should expect only tangential connections. In other words the whole "the game will affect the show" is probably more marketing than reality.

It has already been stated that there will be some kind of contest between seasons to have one of our characters actually show up in the show. (if they are appropriately named). How this will work across all three plateforms I'm not sure. Maybe one from each? or the one best player of all three??

    How that would be determined?

Create a back story/develop a personality for the character? Looking forward to seeing that becoming a reality for someone in the game. How can one become that noticeable among thousands without racking up huge amounts of points. Folks get your creativity box out this will be a heck of a contest!

This, sort of. I've only ever heard them say "the game will affect the show" not "the players will affect the show". The one promo video mentions characters transitioning from the show (St. Louis/Defiance) to the game (San Francisco), and the other way around. There is also a video with the male human character who raises an alien daughter in the show rendered as a video game character. They might have occasional events where player action (or inaction) can affect the show, but I doubt that will happen very often (maybe something along the lines of kill 5 million bad guys across all platforms before the next episode airs so fewer townsfolk in Defiance die).

I think that the interation between the two settings will mostly consist of playing along with charaters from the show when they come to visit San Fran and perhaps escorting NPC's (partway?) to the city of Defiance. If the players can actually have a major impact on the shows storylines, it will probably only happen in between seasons, or at least not happen immediately.

Having the three platforms communities fractured is kind of sad. It means less folks you can potentially play with, and someone you may enjoy talking with on the forums being on another platform, so you can't hang out in game.

There are way too many technical issues involved in cross-platform play to realistically expect it, and I really can't imagine Sony and Microsoft being okay with their consoles having connectivity with each other in a game.

I found this link in older thread, explaining how the game and show interact.
