When people questioned why the map in the beta was so small, the fanboys swore it was only 1/4 of the game's actual size. That also was bs. What about the content that was supposed to be released to coincide with the series premiere? That was suppose to make the "trolls" eat their words. We know how that turned out. So despite all of this, people are not suppose to be frustrated? People should acknowledge the advice of the fanboys and their awful track record? Down right hilarious...
Sounds like that was people who praised the game a little too much, "fanboys" can be just as bad, if not more, then trolls. Many of those who are labeled "fanboys" have, more often than not, not done their research properly and end up saying things that are simply not true.

Indeed. Actual genuine 'fanboys' can be bad for the improvement of games. However, the term 'fanboy' is largely used by whiners to signify anyone who actually likes the game and doesn't post about how awful it is and how much the developer fails.

Then you have the seemingly ever decreasing number of actual realistic people who have a bit of patience and are able to enjoy games without throwing a temper tantrum if it isn't perfect within the first few weeks. This is especially true in MMO's. Constructive criticism is useful but badly thought out rants that are clearly made by people who have no understanding whatsoever about the intricacies of software development and release practices are even more worthless than the genuine 'fanboys' that won't even acknowledge that there are any issues.

I wonder how much of the bickering is just a little bit of culture clash, between the FPS headshotters crowd and MMO dragonslayers.

That is probably a factor also.

I'm in both camps so a very neutral party and I still found a lot of flaws in the game, in its concept and implementation. The bugs I dont really care about because they'll be fixed within time. I wrote a massive thread about it all but a lot of people would much rather have mini flame wars in threads about nothing useful.
