cryosleep vs generational ships Spoilers for game and tv

look am i the only one to be confused in the game and now on the tv show the arks took hundreds of years to travel from the votanus system to our earth. we know those ships were huge but which were they cryosleep ships as shown in episode 1 scene aboard the ark fallen ship. now in the scene between mrs Tar and her future daughter in law. mrs Tar says that she was awake and married aboard the ark ship, suggesting she ejected her fiancé out an airlock. so did they sleep or were those ships generational. no matter which it would take a very long time, if it is generational is this why some of the knowledge and history has been lost.

Depends how you want to go.
1. Generational crew, sleeping cargo.
2. Rotating Generational crew, serve 5 years active sleep 10.
3. Rotating crew and cargo in and out sleep.
4. Early wake up of cargo for their specialities. Aka stellar research woken 5 light years out, Luke farm boy woken up 1 month before land fall.
5. Game/story has not told how fast the ships were empty.
