I can relate, Grit, I spent a few hours with a friend rolling around absolutely smashing the living s**t out of random events, Arkfalls and farming for Keycodes. You can imagine what was going through my head when I was given 3... THREE... yellow infectors =/ with basically the same stats only one of them had a Siphon elemental added to the Melee damage, I was literally speechless and from then I decided not to even bother wasting my time with the Trollboxes anymore.
I just salvo my picked up gear and sell to vendors now as I can't justify spending a few hours or so farming Keycodes just to empty them into a box for weapons / equipment I can find from fallen Bosses / Hulkers or even Hellbugs. If it didn't take 64 Keycodes to buy a Tier 4 lockbox knowing you could potentially get duplicates or even triplets, then I'd be inclined to use them more often =(
