I waited for this patch since sometime around the 5th, haven't played Defiance since. I've started playing other games as I got bored with Defiance's lack of the MMO feeling that I was lead to believe would be there from all the info I read on it.

Doubt I will load Defiance up till they start tossing more "standard" style MMO content and things for me to dig into or at the very least want to try out. As of right now there is basically nothing for me to do in Defiance other then get my EGO from 1000-5000.

There is no satisfying those who feel entitled, I guess.

I, for one, am happy to see the PS3 platform issues with file conversion and the submission process get worked out. It does mean things should go a lot smoother going forward and more in-line with the other platforms. Admittedly, Defiance is not without its critical issues but I believe that since the game is not quite yet one month live and Trion Worlds is wanting to keep it around for a while (there are 5 DLC still to come, after all), the fixes should keep coming and more content will be added.

I do feel bad that some players have already left the game but that's their loss (and their $60) because it's a choice that the players make; not the developers or publisher. Unfortunately, in many cases, you only get one chance to leave a good impression so, like any game at launch, there will be an exodus of players who either didn't get what the developers was trying to do, didn't have the patience to see out the rough spell, or wanted something more than the game could offer. Sometimes those players come back but oftentimes they do not however, with the community we have and the fact that more people will discover the game either through friends or the television tie-in, things should work out.
Where are people complaining about getting more than the other platforms?

I've already shelved the game and the show, Trion has shown their hand that they are not as supportive to the PS3 version as the other 2....

What happened to we are waiting on Sony and 'logistics'? You have the patch/update and you want to test it some more?!

WHAT WAS HAPPENING THE LAST 2 WEEKS?

I'm going to take a stab at something here and i could be wrong no doubt but my theory is this. Sony created that 4.41 firmware update to help out a few games and make the system run better cause a lot of PS3 owners were having issues with the 4.40 firmware update. Defiance was once of those games that was part of the support. So Trion had to wait for that Firmware update to go live. Cause remember people were saying that Sony didn't approve of the update and Sledgehammer already said that it was 100% false (Now a closed thread). Also, don't you find it weird and funny that the night of the firmware update, you couldn't log in until you installed that update. Also, the day after, Sledgehammer posted saying that the 26th (Now the 29th) was going to be Patch day for us. Also if you think about it, Sony takes about a week to two weeks for patch approvals. Yet Trion is doing some more tests on it since they are releasing it on the 29th. Which is less then a week. I also remember them saying in a developer video a while back that they had arrangements with Sony and Microsoft so that Client side updates don't need approval. Only title updates do like most games have to go through.

That's my theory however, if I'm wrong, then the patches did get approved and Sony wanted to wait until that firmware update went live before they could allow the update to go through but then again, wouldn't trion need to resend the patch again to get approved and making us wait even longer?.

To be honest i think it was compatibility issues and stability issues that stopped the patch in the first place and to be honest i dont mind if we have to wait a bit since look what happened to pc and xbox the patch made their systems worse and at least we get to take advantage of the keycodes system so far thats a bonus for those that want orange weapons...

but thats just my opinion on the matter no point playing the blame game because most of it will be speculation and nothing really gets sorted when saying hear say and talking trash about a company

Get those key codes while they're hot then. Every time I group up no one wants to do emergencies.

Your theory sounds quite plausible but so did the "patch failed certification" theory.

Pretty easy way to end all that sort of speculation however... *hint, hint to Trion Worlds*
