Its not fully a complaint in the sense Im basing the game (im not bashing it)... I do admit that some of it is my own fault for getting excited about the game and having certain expectations... it is correct to say that it isn't an RPG and thus would have less lore, content, whatever you want to call it but...

My thought was since the company was trying to immerse the player in the universe of the TV series why not take the approach of an MMORPG but having the playstyle to be of a TPS (if this is making any sense)

As compared to most other single player games (or ones that end up having a primary focus on Online PvP play) the campaigns are fairly short (Brink and Homefront immediately come to mind... not saying I dislike those either) so the fact that I did get a couple weeks work of play, playing a couples hours or so every couple of days, I do feel as though I got my financial worth out of the game.

I just wish there was more, and that the game allowed for more of a individual identity while more obviously promoting socialization and creating a community aspect such as WoW, EVE, etc....

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and personally want to see this game succeed but there is part of me that fears how long the game itself will last... we will see.

I loved this game but after a rather brief storyline I find myself "wanting". Sadly the side missions and interactions in the emergencies do not draw me in. Collecting outfits and the PvP aspect occupied my attention for a while and then not so much. I mean, whats the point when the majority of everyone just looks like the default human survivalist.

As much as I love the weapon modification system, visually its not as amazing as I had thought it would be. Weapons and their mods only come in a few visual flavors and the rest are recolored versions of the same...

I find myself wanting to log into Defiance and immerse myself in its lore and universe. Unfortunately after logging in Im standing around wondering what I should do, and eventually contemplate creating a new character just so I have some additional content available (completed side missions and a challenge, etc) but the thought of doing that all over again and collecting pursuits feel tedious. In the end I just log out of the game and go on netflix simply because the entertainment value in Defiance does not exist for me...

Please Note: This is my personal opinion and everyone is entitled to their own as I do not speak for anyone but myself.

I do hope that company will do something to address this, wether it is adding some new DLC or adding more missions and interactions that cross with elements of the show itself, but at this point I am just simply bored with the game and the lack of initial content given. I love the idea of new DLC but at the same time, I find myself wondering if it will be worth whatever cost it is for x amount of new material... My biggest fear is that in the end the DLC will just be recycled elements that already exist. Honestly I hope that isn't the case as I am fond of the show and I am fond of the "game concept". I just wish there was more...

Is there anyone else that is affected by this boredom bug as I am?
Good thing you dont have to pay a monthly sub to play. I'm sure you got your moneys worth in that time and the good news is you can come back and play it anytime for free when you are bored of other games.

$60 is overcharging for the pc experience.

I am pleasantly surprised, finally a negative OP which managed to sound reasonable and reflected.

As for the issue, I`d say it`s about expectations indeed.
I mean...the thread title reads almost funny, bored after ONLY a few weeks. Hell, many games bore me after a few hours, even minutes sometimes. Everything that manages to entertain me for 10+ hours was a good buy to me.

But ye, I understand some expected a standard mmorpg. Personally, I am glad it is not.
Better have "only a few weeks" of fun, than work through a carrot-on-a-stick game, which may occupy you for years, but not through actual gameplay.
Defiance is "moment-to-moment" gameplay...if you feel like shooting something it could be the right game for the evening.
If you don`t...no harm in that, come back when the mood strikes again. Or not, after all you did get good value for your money if you enjoyed it so far.

Then how are you so sure the other poster you replied to got their money's worth? Can't have it both ways.

Unfortunately I kinda have to agree with the OP. At first I gave this game an 8/10 after only a couple days of playing it, but these days I think I would lean more toward a 6/10. I think it's primarily due to expectations. I realize its a shooter not an rpg, so I never expected it to be insanely deep on the story side, but the campaign can be finished in 6-10 hours tops. This is about par for the course for a shooter, but given the MMO marketing of the game, I think a lot of us expected more interaction with others. I was truly surprised, and disappointed, that the bridge guardian wasn't a raid boss. A simple cutscene in the main story, all of which can be solo'd (and in fact forces you to solo at times) with ease, and poof it's gone.

I think one of the biggest draws to "MMO" games is the social aspect, not only being able to but more or less HAVING to group up with lots of people to take down hard enemies. The way the bosses scale in this game they can be done almost as easy solo as in a group/raid. I took down an entire major scrapper arkfall the other day completely solo except for the last 10% of the Progenitor's health. Some guy showed up at the end, probably for some quick/easy exp/keys, and did 100,000 points of damage to it. My total damage was 2.8 million, so I'm pretty sure his 100,000 didn't save the day. Being able to solo a major arkfall should make you feel like you accomplished something, but instead I had an odd mix of "cool" and "jeez, that really shouldn't be possible to do solo" going on.

I do hope the DLC breathes new life into the game and brings in some content that actually requires teamwork and cohesion rather than dozens of lone wolves all milling about together, but for the time being I've more or less shelved the game too except for doing contracts here and there just on the off chance a DLC achievement requires you to buy the 1000rep titles with each faction.

I agree to the Op , there no Hardcore content to get gear, and were all stuck to..., That would be hardcore is just split screen your tv, or listen to music while grinding guns up to lv 20 . We need content or stuff to seperate the casuals from the hardcore players. , so the casuals know what they need to work for down the road , not some random orange item.

Oh man, you are going to get seriously yelled at by some people who never had the time to raid in WoW and want a game where there is no pressure to do anything.
