This is presented as having, but I think the lack of preparation on their part and response from the community has pushed people to spin it a "just a TPS" game. It's not just a TPS game, because it has elements of RPG in it. Maybe the designers weren't sure on what they fully intended and are winging it now.

Recycled content is just what most MMOs use anyway. I've went from one MMO to another, only to find shadows of the previous game, just wrapped in some different graphics and names. Adjusting ingredients when cooking something will give it a different flavor and feel on the palate, but can have all the same ingredients. Defiance feels like a TPS mixed with an RPG. Lack of ideas and the ability to continue story often force designers, who are producing a product for sale, to "repackage" their product on the fly to meet with response from their customers.
the community moved the camera into a 3rd person view?

It doesn't matter what label you apply to it, it doesn't change what it is. It's a game where you shoot stuff, with story missions, randomly spawning events, and the ability to join up with people in varying numbers
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

Does anyone actually remember the launch of world of Warcraft.... Everyone keep saying other mko have much more content....not really at launch for vanilla wow there were no battlegrounds, marudon, bwl, etc etc. The first content wow actually gave you was marudon for patch 1.2 that took several months 4if I remember correctly. Prior to that their were hotfixes and bug patches the first content people got took 4months. For the first 4months was server stability patches, bugged items fixes and removal of the only legendary to drop.

Within 1months they have 3episodes worth of free content, fixes bugs a few persistent ones remain.

Only reason wow seem like it was bigger was the world was larger.... Only quests they had were go kill x amount of this or that and collect x amount of item y.... It was a grind fest. You had to grind to see content. You had to level to unlock the new instance. You had to hit 60 to step foot in a raid.

They forced you to level hard and time consuming so they could get you monthly. Longer you play more money they get.

Comparing a game that's been out a month to a game that has had 9years to develop and add content, add raids, add pvp, add fun little things to do. Is unfair. If you had a virgin copy of original wow and compared it to this game at launch the content is about the same only thing in defiance you can do everything in a few days....wow good luck old pre leveling nerd wow lucky if your stepping foot into blackrocks depths in less then a month or two....but keep paying...•cough• I meant keep playing to get there one day.
I would step over your still bleeding corpse for my morning coffee!

This thread is sadly about the fact that Defiance gets boring too quick. I don't compare Defiance (now) to WoW (now) but I have to say that WoW took about 4/5 months to bore me first and Defiance one. I know it has no subscription-fee, and that's okay but I really thought I could have more fun after doing everything multiple times.

I really like Defiance as it is and I am at EGO level 1600 right now, played about 150 hours and it was worth my money. In fact I planned to play it longer and i really want to reach EGO 2500 at least but I can't get me to launch it currently because I am so bored with it.

I hope we get some decent maybe even harder and longer lasting content and Trion implements some of the great ideas i read the last weeks from the community or I think this game is doomed.
When I was little, we found a man. He looked like, butchered. The old woman in the village crossed themselves... and whispered crazy things, strange things. "El Diablo cazador de hombres." Only in the hottest years this happens. And this year, it grows hot. We begin finding our men. We found them sometimes without their skins... and sometimes much, much worse. "El cazador trofeo de los hombres" means the demon who makes trophies of men.

I suggest that you pick up other games so it won't get old.

Yeah, FC3 Blood Dragon and Dead Island Riptide are helping out meanwhile.

because I believe the industry standard is if you pay for a $60 game you get at least 10 hours of game play. There is easily that much game play with Defiance.

That's sadly true, not much games nowadays have more than 10 hours content and are worth 60 bucks - it's almost standard 2day. Defiance is for sure worth the money but could be a greater MMO-project, I am curious about how the DLCs and new content will be.

I played WoW when it launched. It took me about a month to 1 and 1/2 to get bored. I tried both PvP and PvE servers too. To this day I haven't played it since.

I'm at 6+ days played in Defiance, and still not bored. I also haven't completed the main storyline yet, as I always find other stuff to do. For me, the difference is that I have so much freedom in Defiance to do what I want, whenever I want, and get rewarded for it. I don't have to do specific dungeons or specific zones to advance or get loot.

It also helps that the gameplay is so darn fun. Most tab-target MMOs are, well, boring. I thought the classes in WoW were very boring, especially coming from an EQ Druid, that had a much larger diversity of skills. Here, I can change up my weapons and perks anytime I want. I love that.

I'm not trying to go all fanboy here. Defiance has many defects. I am anxiously awaiting some improvements to difficulty, Arkfalls, better coop missions, improved lockbox drop rates, etc. I would love some Tabula Rasa style assults. But I can't help that I find the game itself so darn fun to play; more so than all the other MMOs I've tried and grown bored with so quickly.

You forgot to add to the post ".. 12 of which were spent AFK, posting whiney rants on forum." Lol

Defiance players are silly: "I hate Defiance! Welp, I'm going to go play Defiance now."

Yeah, it's all about the taste of the player. I really enjoyed it for some months but at some point it bored me too. I even tried the addons later but I always quit after about 3 months because I have seen everything new then and the game got worse with every addon.

I completed the main storyline twice, did every sidemission, done every coop several times, played some PvP, destroyed hundreds of arkfalls, done a ton of contracts, searched the map for easter eggs, emergencies and so on, just had my amusement. Right now it just bores me to hell, I played about 8 days and I am @ EGO level 1950. It's not the end of the world, I just take a break and can enjoy some other games meanwhile.

Yes, the gameplay is awesome but too easy and I have honestly no fun with it anymore. The only tab-target MMO I still play sometimes is GuildWars2 but it's sadly an absolutely grindfest after completing the map and stuff. Let me be clear, I usually like farming and grinding but after months of grinding I have simply no fun and patience for that anymore.

I am awaiting new things and improvements too, maybe in a months time I have a blast again like the 6 days playtime before. TRION is about to make it or break it in the next weeks, let's wait and see. It's only the beginning they said. It would be fun they said. xD
I certainly hope for the best.
