In my opinion, the graphics are not essential part of the beta testing. They are trying to make this game playable on consoles, which is not easy. Our job is to find bugs, glitches and test everything we can during the limited time. And the beta client is distributed digitaly only, so the pack you are downloading is smaller. Graphics can be improved in time, but if the game is so bugged nobody will play it. Watch the GW2 customer support forums... 1,1 mln of ppl want their money back because of the high price and not finished product.
But sure... when I first saw this game on my PS3, my thoughts were: "The hell?! 0_o Rift, the 2 years old game from the same company looks far more better..." It reminds me of some games I have played like 4 or 5 years ago...
But as i said... Graphic will come after the amazing gameplay.

Oh Lordy do I ever feel you on that one. In the past decade TSW was one of two games I looked forward to the most. I had such high hopes, thought it'd revolutionize MMOs, and knock the ball so far out of the park people would say, "Anarchy Online what, who?"... but MAN, did TSW ever turn out to be a huge disappointment. I've even stepped back and tried looking at it without high hopes, and as "just an everyday person who just picked up a random title" and still go, wth!? LOL.

Hrm. Without trying to dig up a quote, I thought they had originally said that the build was only a few weeks old. I must have misread that. That's both somewhat reassuring and somewhat frustrating. I wonder what the breakdown is on how much of what we're reporting has already been fixed and how much is new.
I know NDA still applies to the PC beta, but I wonder how this beta compares to a PC beta from that period. Since we don't have an old beta to gauge progress against, once the new PC beta launches, it'll be interesting to hear how much progress has been made since the last one.
