Hypothetically, lets say I name my character, Asus, Dodge, Dr. Pepper, or something. Would that eliminate any chances for being mentioned in the show due to copyrights? Same thing with character names from tv shows and books. If i named my character Bilbo, Jack Bauer, Chuck Norris, etc... That eliminate any chance for being mentioned on the show?

Possibly. Depends how much of connection your character in appearance, demeanor etc. has with such a name. Better to use something more personal or original, provided its not stupid like "XXmaster553Tll**2!".
They have said to name your characters appropriately but only mention the mess of alpha numeric monikers. I would imagine anything with a copy right or trade mark as well would be forfeit as they would have to pay to use such a name.
Stick to original, maybe something derived by the lore of the world we're playing in.
It would actually be neat to see highly influential players in the game get characters in the show based off of them, even loosely. It's going to be interesting to see just how much the game and the show bounce off of one another, that's for sure.
I wonder if they would make the player do the acting, or if they would hire someone to play them? Or if the person will get anything for being featured?
They should make one episode with loads of Defiance players! I mean like in one episode they spend time in some bar and all the customers are modeled after Defiance players! Would be cool to be like "Holy shtako! That's my character dancing on the table!"
I have serious doubts any character's name from the game will ever be intentionally mentioned on the show.
Nah I can see it, especially involving special events.
