There is a random vendor that appears on the road in various places around the map. If you watch your map and know where the "usual" vendor locations are, the random vendor will show on the map on a road in a location that is not normal. The vendor is not on the map all the time, so take a quick scan while looking for directions or arkfalls, and it is a good idea to set a way point to the location because the vendor has limited time on the map and will disappear at any moment (waypoint helps makes sure you go to vendor as fast as possible). When you get there you may see vendor box is not flashing, this means you must kill the enemies attacking the vendor before you may access it.

    BTW: I love chicken... Delicious.

The timer must be really really tight. I've "saved" them maybe 5 times and never been able to shop.

I've run into the vendor truck in the south being attacked by raiders and after I save it I can't access the vendor. It flashes like all the vendors do, but I am still unable to access it. Does anybody else have the same issue. I want to say it's on one of the southern coastal roads but can't remember exactly.

The lanterns do not mean a vendor, you can find them scattered in different places.
More than half the time, I haven't been able to get the vendor to "open" for business after taking care of the problems.
The few times I've gotten it to let me in wasn't anything world shattering.
Just a regular vendor unless it is bugged.

I had this problem every time for the first 3 weeks after launch (seems to have been fixed, for me at least, this week). After saving the vendor I would drive far enough away that the vendor disappeared, then come back and I could interact/shop.

This happens to me every time. Easy fix, drive/walk far enough distance away for the vehicle to un draw itself (disappear) and then go back to the area. The vendor should be accessible.

I too had problems accessing the "random vendor" early on before the latest patch. Now I get to access the vendor every 3 out of 4 time I try, it usually seems if I save the vendor it gives me access to the "random Vendor", and if someone else saves the vendor, I may or may not gain access to buy.

If you have not tried recently to access the "random Vendor", I suggest giving it another try.

BTW: I think the "random Vendor" is like the "hidden vendors", They both offer 3 "special items" to purchase.

Seems like we are at an impasse then.
