I saw a cutscene earlier today where someone was looming at coopers pistol and mentioned Nolan having one and that he set her free. Cooper said he was surprised or something because there's very few people left that have one.

I was under the impression that these guns were "po-tech" (poor-tech) or guns patched together from salvage. It seems they hold some significance to the defiant few and the battle of defiance as cooper alluded to when he said "only a few people carry these".

Nolan's gun is 'po-tech' which is:

"poor tech" is slang for the primitive technology that predates the Votans arrival (in other words, old fashioned stuff, like a regular firearm).
On the Defiance site there is a picture break down of the weapon:

So it uses 9mm rounds and packs a grenade launcher of sorts, with ability to be customized for special load outs. Definitely old world military much like the other ballistic weapons floating around Defiance.

While I would love to have this gun for my character, I personally hope that they don't put it in the game for player use. It makes it that much more desirable for everyone. I was disappointed a bit when I saw that they threw in Nolan and Irisa's outfits, and now a quarter of the players I see wear them. It just spoils the outfit and doesn't make it seem so unique to the actual characters anymore.

So I was trying to compile a list of EMC weaponry to get an idea of what was actually used in the Pale Wars. It's difficult to piece together the full arsenal of a EMC squad ... Sometimes its listed as an EMC weapon like "EMC-LMG XAR-22" or the "EMC Sniper Rifle" but what about the grenadier what did he use? Which detonator is actual of earth design that might have been used by the EMC? We know the Bio-Men have advanced weaponry that is a HMG and a detonator but I know the average solider wouldn't of carried it around except as a crew served weapon.

    @ Big Andy

All EMC weaponry is reskinned VBI stuff so it would stand to reason that the Ground Pounder would have been EMC issue.

Thats what I thought too but when you go to VBI Weapon vid... it says the Ground pounder is the newest piece of tech... so the version the EMC must have used was prone to overheating and maybe didn't have the distance.

Strange comment, as there is a second season due to start in June 2014.
