Exxxxxxxxxactly. That's why these types of threads have no merit. Why single out IGN when reviewers in general view this as a below average product? How can you call IGNs review "wrong" but fail to include any feedback that supports your accusation? Give me a break.

I've never relied on IGN for game reviews.

another one of these threads for crying out loud, when are people going to understand that reviews are just opinions, you don't agree fine but that doesn't make it "wrong" it just makes it different than yours.

I agree that a 5.5 rating is a bit low for the game I am playing "at this time".

You may have noticed that prior to when Defiance was released, there were no reviews to be found regarding this game. My theory is, the reviewing media was slightly butt hurt by the fact they did not get early access to review the game(a huge privilege, for those in that position), and the game they reviewed upon release was plagued by bugs and online prohibitive server issues(I was there on day one).

But thinking back to the first week of release... a 5.5 is actually quite generous. I do feel that now the game is much better now and as bugs and stability are improved(adding note, I was dropped from the server about 5 times yesterday), and DLC (providing it has quality content) is released, The potential to be an excellent game is there.

Many people have commented that defiance was released while still in a "beta" state. In hindsight, it's easy to debate to that end. I agree with them. It seems maybe television network pressure required the games release, to coincide with the show, in an unready state.

With the ability to update "daily", and release "substantial updates" every few few weeks(almost unheard of thru xbox live system),
the possibility of a prosperous and enjoyable future for everyone exist.

The Fro hangs low... See ya on the road.
I strongly agree with everything you said.

    No joke.

Duke would have been a pretty awesome game if released back 20 years ago when it was supposed to come out. Now it feels so dated and crappy.

IGN stands for Incompetent Gaming News.

I honestly believe without a doubt their reviews are paid for. Look how EA consistently earns high scores for mediocre games. And Halo earned a high score when gamers complained nonstop how you just push a button and move to next objective. Yet IGN does nothing but bash Defiance nonstop all the mission are hold down this button and defend something. But oh . . . ok that is fine for Halo.

I think 343 Industries mostly likely bribed IGN in some capacity.

343 Industries has to be the biggest joke in the gaming industry at this point. And I will say they are by far the worst online community of mods I have ever seen in action. Mods let their friends trash people all over the forums and then ban random people cause they feel like it or simply disagree with what they say.

343 Industries is the ghetto of Xbox at this point.

If all the review sites on Metacritic re-review this game in 6 months time I feel like the Metascore average would be in the 7.7-9.0 range. That's just my opinion mainly based on the effort I see devs making to make the game better.

trion is pretty good at adding content through out the year, just look at the success of Rift. The 5 content releases will mean it will just get better. look for IGN to review it again in 9 months with a 8.5ish rating.

I don't care for what "Critics" say about games. I judge them for myself and when it comes to MMO's. I'm use to MMO having huge issues for first little while. Defiance falls in that list of MMO with huge problems at launch.
