My Gamestop has good employees... The one out of all of them that owns a PS3 also stated, "I know I am not supposed to give my opinion of anything due to company policy..." And we ended up having a good chat about PS3 and its game selection. It just depends on if you have 'know it alls' working there or not.

Gamestop would hire zombies if they could find a way to mask the smell. Generally, if you're so stupid that you can't land a job at McDonald's or cleaning toilets in an office complex, you're more than qualified to work in a Gamestop.

The one I used to go to had a great staff. I game'd with them all the time. But I moved away and the one I have now is absolute garbage. They do the same stuff that OP was talking about. They tell you games aren't worth buying based solely on reviews, then they scoff at you when you buy them.

Congratulations on your first experience with somebody who is paid to sell you things telling you not to buy the things he sells. If you continue shopping in enthusiast stores, you will likely continue to experience this. I've been told not to buy games by game salesmen, not to buy comics by comics salesmen, not to buy guitars by guitar salesmen, among other things.

It's fun. Talk to the manager the next time you are there, and tell him that his employee told you not to buy the things they sell.

I'm glad I have a good Gamestop near me. All the clerks there were pumped about the game and as we all know each other on first name basis, they waited to see what I had to say about it. I recommended the game to all of them but I also told them to stick with it as it's an MMO and if they are going to get it on console like I did not to lose hope. They all got the game on their platforms of choice and have been playing since. Just sucks you have to deal with a gamestop where the employees seem to be a bit negative about things. Just depends on the area really.

he then said they didn't have it used... but told me to pick it up used because the game recieved poor reviews and there was a good chance i wouldn't like it.
i let him know it was for my brother.
he said..."well then, i'm sure your brother isn't going to like it... like i'm positive he wont like it."
"na, we both played my copy at my house the other night... he really seems to enjoy it. reviews dont matter." i said.
then he went on to basically say, yeah right... the game is a mess and only console players will fall for the games geekish marketing schemes. sci fi nerds and such.
    WTF.
i asked him why noone has returned the game if it sucked so bad and he concluded that the game wasn't worth bringing in because of its resale value.
i bought my second copy this week.
as i walked out he said, "you'll be back"
gamestop really needs to hire new people around here.
    what a crap experience.
I would have said well since you know the person will hate the game so much then when I bring it back, you can give me a 100% refund and sell the used game as a new copy like GameStop use to do all the time.

Been nice to hear what employee would said to that.

Looks like some gamestop employee got pwned by an LMG to the face while he was trying to bunnyhop while cloaked with a shotgun in his hand.

    Cool.

I am a PC Gamer, and there is zero reason to go to Gamestop. I once tried to buy something from their online digital distribution store, and they wouldn't even accept my credit card information, even though it is the same exact information I use at Steam, Gamefly, Origin, Greenman gaming. Gamestop is crap.
