    Question about synergy mods

I've searched through both these forums and other soures online and I want to know: are "brutal" and "run and gun" the only synergy mods in the game right now? I've got several weapons listed as veteran or survivalist synergy and I've spent a good amount of scrip and Keycodes on synergy mod caches and I've never seen anything besides the two I mentioned. Do I need to go to faction vendors in order to actually take advantage of synergy bonuses?
As I said, I'm well aware that there's a lot of posts about this Subject but with all the patching going on I would like some new info about this before I start wasting money on more synergy mod caches.

There's a link to my long-winded "Synergy Systems" video guide in my signature, but here's the short version:

There are two types of synergy:
    1) Loadout Synergy (shows one bonus marked with [2]) means you get that bonus if both weapons in your loadout have that synergy. No mods required.

    2) Mod-based Synergy (shows four bonuses marked with [1],[2],[3],[4]) means you get those bonuses for having 1-4 synergy mods in that synergy weapon. The synergy on the mod has to match the synergy on the weapon. Several synergy mod types (Assassin, Cannoneer, Grenadier, Quartermaster, Rolling Thunder, Stalker) are either missing from the game or will only show up at super high EGO-rating.

For now, I pretty much ignore synergy... except for making sure I use a Survivalist secondary weapon when I am using a Survivalist main weapon.

The faction ones are a pain. You have to spend faction to get the guns, then spend a TON of faction on the "faction synergy mod caches", hoping to get the right mods for the guns. Ridiculous.

I also pretty much ignore all the dropped/vendor special Mod Synergies, because the only mods I've seen in the game are tons of Brutal and the rare Run-n-Gun from "keycode synergy mod caches" and the occasional Scavenger sniper magazine mod as a vendor special.

Faction mods are jacked up. Got to sniper rifle mods out of top notch. I dont think they even sell sniper rifles with prepared synergy. And you only get 1, for 5 dailies and a weeky. ridiculous.

Thank you. I've been up and down this forum and all I can find are speculations about how synergies work. Ive seen a lot of your posts in some of them but never noticed the link in your sig. Just wanted say thanks before I check out your guide.

And to Trion: thanks for making the most interesting and slightly original concept in your game overly complex and nearly impossible to fully understand. And thanks even more for having so much valuable information about synergies in the info guide in the game.

Sadly none of that makes sense at all to me! lol

Trion is complete fail on having an area that explains this game to not only new people to MMOs or people new to Defiance.

Honestly it is just turning people away since they are confused and not have a solid place to go for info.

Even without Grimwyrd, being the good person that he is and telling you what's up, you could simply try it out yourself and get to the same conclusion.

What you should tell Trion is that their system for obtaining synergy mods isn't fun at all ... 41% broken and 54% randomly screwing you out of 100 reputation and 5% available for special sales on very rare occasions.
In other words, great system but unless there are some changes you would do nothing but waste time if you try to obtain any synergy mods.

From what i understand, every mod IS currently in the game but they are extremely rare. They are suppose to be as rare as legenday weapons because of the unique bonuses they offer. I do not have a link to a source as i heard this from sledgehammer during the defiance livestream yesterday.

Lol, really taking that whole "haunting me on the forums" thing to heart. I'd gladly call out Trion the way you suggest but unfortunately I barely understand synergies the way they are. The whole thing makes my head hurt.

Yeah, it's a bit of a crazy mess. My advice to players who aren't obsessive tinkerers like me is:

    1) Ignore all synergies except Survivalist/Veteran/Outlaw/Machinist.
    2) If you want to use one of the above synergies, make sure both your weapons have the synergy.

    Examples:
Survivalist does extra damage when you crit a fresh target. If you're using a sniper rifle with Survivalist, equip something like a pistol with Survivalist as your secondary weapon, so you get the bonus.

Outlaw does extra damage on last shot of clip. If you're using an Outlaw synergy Sawed-Off (that reloads all the time), equip a secondary weapon with Outlaw too for the bonus.

After Grims first post, how can there be any more questions?

I get the feeling that some players would love a game that takes you by the hand and gives you 24/7 all around care ... spacebar to jump is not anything the game has to tell me. Corrosion applies a 20% damage taken debuff? Well, the damage any effected target is obviously 20% higher then before...

I just feel like players are less willing to figure shtako out on their own these days.
Of course there's for example the map with no names on it is only half as useful if you're not far enough in the game or didn't remember.
But I do not want to be treated like a stupid person because other people can't be bothered to use their head.

Idle threats are not worth the effort. : P

Back to the topic of synergies ...
A good and fitting mod synergy makes a weapon a lot more valuable. Even if you can't obtain the boni associated with it right now, since weapons don't scale with EGO rating you can simply enable the synergy later and use it to full effect for the time being.

It's interesting to hear about Trion saying that the mods are supposedly in the game. Since the rarity of all but two synergies and all types of mods for all types of weapons are being mixed together turn the odds against you and actually make them effectively non existant.
