The PvP on this game is horrid. It is comprised of shotgun-wielding cloaky players jumping up and down (atleast the sucessful groups). The way the mechanics work in PvP, it feels as if it was a rushed after-thought, with no attempt to balance.
Now, it may get more fun if I invest hours and hours into mastering PvP, or if I just reroll a new character that has cloak, but I write this post from the point of view of the player fresh into PvP in this game, and I must say, there is ZERO fun factor.
Some things I would fix to make it more fun for everyone:
NO ONE should be one-shotted in PvP. Even snipers should not be able to one-shot a player. Not only does this encourage greifing, but it allows hackers (I wont even get into the hacher problem) to rule supreme with aim-bots. Let players be able to react to ebing shot; make dying in PvP require atleast 2 bullets.
The hopping up and down to avoid getting shot has to go. Not only does it make the game look silly and cartoonish (I keep expecting a player to pull out a giant mallet and smack me on the head as an Acme safe drops on them from the sky), but gives players using high-damage rounds an advantage over players who need to fire many rounds at a target to do thier damage. This is why you see alot of shotguns in PvP atm. My solution would be to just make the hit box touch the ground at all times, so even when they jump they still get hit. Not saying this is the best solution, but I do know this problem does need a solution.
Finally, balance. I have a simple rule for game balance: If there are choices for players to use, and most the players choose one particular choice over the others, then that choice needs fixing. When the majority of people run around in PvP cloaked, its because the ability is superior to the other 3 options. I'm the average player -- If I know this, then I'm certain other players know this. If this is the case, why have you guys not figured this out yet? Its something you should have fixed in beta, not wait until people pay $60 each.
I've played many many MMOs, and a few FPSs. Your PvP was the worst experience I had in all of them.
