It seems almost impossible for me to get gold as I have done this like 50 times and hit the finish line at 2:02. That 2-4 sec could be gained if I didn't have to slow down and maneuver around this randomly stupid event.

I know the feeling. While your situation is bad enough, I had to move around invisible objects that never spawn (even after re-logging). This problem only occurred in the San Francisco area on the PS3 NA version, but didn't happen in any other areas. Guess I really wanted that black Challenger, but sometimes it doesn't even move when accelerating after spawning.

One time, an entire Artfall spawned and a crystal was in the way. I said forget it for now and came back later.

Yup, that one was a pain in the butt. Blow up the walker without ending the event so you can get through safely, then just go through at a not so fast pace. Took me a while, but it's not impossible to get gold with the event there. Still, I agree, not the best designed run.

Yep had to try like 4-5 times, after so much bumping into it....... I just decided to finish that event and clear the path lol

I managed to beat the track with two seconds to spare with that event (think it was the same spot as well)

You come at it from slightly further to the right than in the picture, between the clowncar and the sandbags then instantly turn left and drive outside of the event.

About that not moving Challenger, make sure you are getting in on the drivers side.

same had to do it also - that one event wasteland circuit w/lantern spawn seemed very sadistic.

many many hours later gold finish & black car. Some folks are awesome at supermariocart but I'm awful at stuff like that.

I had crap like that happen so many times when trying to do those time trials. Random events loading in right as I'm about to smack into them. Hitting nothing and bouncing up 20 ft. I even had an Arkfall land on me, not near me, on me.
