Speculation on Nolan

I was reading some of the mail for the podcast I do with so friends about Defiance and one of my listeners brought up a really interesting point. In both the flashback in the beginning and the flashback at the end, Nolan is with his mom and dad, but he also seems to have a little sister. I don't know how I missed this, just a little piece of the story that flew completely over my head. I have a picture of the picnic in the little blog post I made about on the site. I'm sure we will find out at some point what happened to her, and for that matter his parents.

His family died in the Battle of St. Louis.

The Battle for St. Louis says, and I quote "History

Joshua Nolan was present during this battle and lost his family. (A View from the Trenches)"

So I went to the link

"He was present at the Battle of St. Louis. I ask him what happened to his family. He looks away and murmurs, "Lots of things." I ask him to elaborate, but he won't. Other than to say he's never going back there. Ever."

I feel like his family dying might be a possibility but it isn't definite with this information provided. Maybe somebody has definite proof in the lore?
