I logged in looked for chat ...chat still sucks logged out.
It is my hope that more and more people will comment on their desire for a working decent chat and that this thread be on the first page until chat is "FIXED" or the game shuts down completely or there are 10 other chat sucks threads on the first page of this forum also.

I basically stopped playing because of the non existent chat. I like to socialize while I play and if I can't do that then I'll find another game where I can. I was hoping chat would have been improved by now
I do like to socialize, but I know all-too-well what chat looks like in other games:
An endless stream of cussing and abusive language, hate and racism, and of course spam - lots and lots of spam.
Defiance is refreshingly quiet and I like that.
But of course, if team/clan chat can be made more user-friendly, I would appreciate that too.
I'll take my chat loud and abusive if it means I can say "hey we need to focus on the motherlode, put the infector away and swap to overcharge" and they will actually see it.
Or
I can type "hey anyone else like X in the episode last night" and then have a fanboi/h8tr fest as people chime in...
If you want quiet, turn off a functional chat instead of applauding the quiescence created by a broken one.
On that note...thank god the OP brought this to Trion's attention, since I don't think this has been mentioned before in a barrage of other threads :-P

I talked many times in chat and there isnt one reply in chat, i also tryed with tells/whispers and no replys.

That's because there also in no PTT (Push to Talk) button or option, so everyone turns it off or mutes it, so they don't have to listen to mouthbreathers and guys getting *****ed at by their moms/dads/wives/husbands/house plants...
So we have non existent text chat and basically unuseable voice chat, because as annoying as h8trs and fanbois are in chat, listening to their cracking puberty rattled voices squeaking in my ear is worse.
Give it time..

The whole game dynamic would change with chat. Its the one thing that has kept me FROM playing the game. Yes I bought it but I will never use the cash shop, never recommend it to my friends and in general will play through the story and call it a day. Please add chat, socialization in MMO's is like 25% of the reason of calling it an MMO.
