Wondering if it's different by region perhaps, because I'm not seeing anything even close to that in my netstat. :/

EDIT: As far as what I'm showing for "153.26.94.208.dal.triongames.com", *whistle*, sucker's connected to seven different ports. Puppy's working overtime.

Yeah I bet that sucker is wide open. That's the closest for me as well but I 32mb/s download from the Dallas area.. problem is the routes in that area over to the trion server blow.

Hey Tr3nch, I dug thru some old RIFT forums. Trion had slow patching issues with the Dallas site with the Beta a couple of years ago. Read the whole thread and proceed with caution but bypassing the load balance server seemed to help these folks.

    See it here: http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-gene...nload-fix.html

I've been having some issues like this as well. Never gotten the download quite fully "done"... I've technically been ranging from 4-16 hours remaining for the past 24 hours, almost. I started updating mine around 20-22 hours ago... went to bed, and had some error when I woke up (seems when there's an error it doesn't auto-resume as you have to hit "OK"). So when I woke up I let it restart, and it's been going all day. Got the same error again earlier, maybe about 4-6 hours ago, where it says "error, please try again later". What I found is, no matter how many times I retried, it wouldn't restart. Many others have been having the same issue. BUT, I'm seeing people say to delete everything and start over, that's false. I didn't want to have to start all over, so I figured I'd try in a different order... I rebooted the entire system, relaunched the patcher, and it resumed from where it left off at. Maybe it's not too late for you to try that?

So note everybody, if you have the "please try again error" and can't connect, reboot before wiping out and reinstalling, whereas, at least for me, it was able to resume.

Only thing I can figure, is somewhere perhaps some sort of buffer is filling up and/or overflowing, to the point where a fresh reboot clears it out. I'm not entirely sure what it's installing/downloading/processing since the installer/patcher is rather vague, but all I can assume is it makes a "clog" of sorts, and rebooting seems to clear it up.

But man, gotta' love fluctuating bandwidth... nothing like seeing 4-8 hours remaining for the past 12 hours at least, lol.

Does anyone know if there are certain ports we can assign to speed this up? I know WoW had specific ports that it used, might help everyone's DL speed, I know mine is taking forever still...

Once you have had at least 3 95% crashes and the patcher wont accept it's been downloaded, THEN you can complain.

But seriously, what is with the patcher, the RIFT one was glorious! It even had a functioning resume button. Its unfortunate that at this rate I wont get into the beta before the game is released.

It no longer even CONTEMPLATES reading the old data :/

For people with very slow patching... Maybe you need to open more TCP ports
Back in the RIFT beta days, we were advised to make sure that the proper ports for RIFT are opened to both incoming and outgoing network traffic. RIFT requires TCP ports 6520 through 6540 for all network traffic related to the game. It's possible that the Defiance patcher wants to use the same ports as RIFT. If you want more info on how to set these ports open, see:
    https://support.trionworlds.com/
and search on "Firewall Router Configuration"

[Update] This has been confirmed to have helped some people to speed up the Defiance patcher.
